DOJ denies House conservatives' request to review Mueller’s directive
The Hill ^ | May 2, 2018 | BY JOHN BOWDEN

The Department of Justice has declined a request from members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus to view an unredacted memo detailing the scope of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd told the lawmakers in a letter on Wednesday that turning over the memo would "threaten the integrity" of Mueller's ongoing investigation into possible collusion between President Trump's campaign and Russia, according to a copy of the correspondence obtained by The Hill.

“Although we are working to accommodate the requests of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in a number of oversight matters, we cannot provide the requested information pertaining to the Special Counsel’s ongoing investigation consistent with longstanding principles of investigatory independence," Boyd wrote in the letter.

A redacted version of the August memo signed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, which was made public in court filings, authorizes the Mueller investigation and directs Mueller to investigate whether Trump campaign officials “committed a crime or crimes by colluding with Russian government officials.”

Mueller's team is authorized to pursue any and all criminal charges uncovered by the investigation.

So the usual excuse for this crap is that they are Executive Branch and don’t have to jump when the Legislative Branch barks.

But the Exec is run by...the subject of the inquisition.

So...who do these guys work for? Themselves?

The Congress authored the law, they can ask for a review of its implementation.

If Sessions doesn't resign on his own, then clearly he's working for the other side.

The DOJ is part of the Deep State.

The House has arrest powers. It is time to exercise them. Maybe Trump can lend a few MPs.

Who is Stephen Boyd?

From Wikipedia:

Boyd graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. He served as the communications director for Jeff Sessions when Sessions was serving as a U.S. Senator.

I don’t see why the Congress critters cannot see the information. They have the security clearance.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner....

I’ll go out on a limb and say that any cases DOJ is prosecuting right this very second, if stopped, won’t stop the planet from rotating on it’s axis. Life will go on and some drug dealers, tax cheats, fraudsters will have their trials delayed. Big whoop!!

turning over the memo would "threaten the integrity"

The Left are allowed to threaten integrity every day of the week.

And that response is begging the question. It is Congress' power to determine whether the investigation has any integrity.

Besides, it the SC investigation hasn't none anything wrong, why are they afraid of Congress' fulfilling their oversight responsibilities in this matter?

You are right on. It seems DOJ/FBI have collectively declared themselves to be a 4th (and unconstitutional) branch of the Federal Gov’t.

Can Trump get Homeland Security to investigate the DOJ because of their refusal to submit to the Executive and Legislative branches of gov’t?

I think you're on to something. Unfund it, then you don't have to fire everyone, they just lock their offices up and that's it.
