Starbucks, trying to put to rest an outcry over the arrest of two black men at one of its stores, is closing more than 8,000 stores for an afternoon of anti-bias training, a strategy some believe can keep racism at bay.
After the arrests in Philadelphia last month, the coffee chain's leaders apologized and met with the two men, but also reached out to activists and experts in bias training to put together a curriculum for its 175,000 workers.

I work for a bank. They are requiring this type of training for senior managers. The company I work for can be charged with “unconscious bias” because I am 100% sure approval rated for various types of loans differ by race. The company defends itself by saying the criteria used is justifiable. But the poor workers are filled with unconscious bias that needs to be corrected.

Had knife pulled on me
Had Gun pulled on me
Had friend Raped and Killed
was with an odd combination of three statistics

Black
When I see that combination,
I'm growing eyes out of the back of my head...

I am mostly retired, no office, but had a business meeting last Friday in a very casual bagel shop. Even though the place was empty, before sitting down, I ordered a bagel. It’s basic etiquette. They provided a venue for my meeting, and I paid for the use of their facility.
The idea of staying in a restaurant of any kind or even using their restroom without ordering would never occur to me. The entitled brats who occupied a table for an extended period, demanded the restaurant code, and refused to leave when asked by the manager and by the police disgust me. They’re obviously far-left socialists engaged in a setup, and they deserved far worse than they got. Starbucks was wrong to back down on that confrontation.
Two non-customers were arrested for refusing to leave.
I’ve seen coffeshops where squatters try to bring in their own bottled drink and packaged food and stake out a table or couch for hours. When the baristas spot them with the outside food and drink they are evicted.
I see couples meeting up for dates or introductions who don’t buy anything.
I see wedding planners holding their client meetups at coffee shops, they don’t buy anything but their clients sometimes do.
I see realtors doing the same thing.
These 2 men were allegedly meeting with someone to discuss real estate deals.
We aren’t talking about broke people. We are talking about non-customer squatters.
The media wants to make this about “black” when it is about intrusion by non-customers.
This cries out for reverse activism. A group of conservatives could go to Charbucks today, with their attorneys and camera crews and refuse to leave at 2pm. Buy popcorn.
Their coffee comes in mocha and black color.

Correct. So this is not biass training. It is marketing strategy. The strategy seems to be to attract the seediest tramps in the neighborhood to hang out daily without any consideration for their ability to become paying customers. Somehow this elevates the business to a higher consciousness. In fact it relegates the business to a dangerous dive.
There are fundamental flaws with the test itself, bigger problems trying to use the test as a political attitudes test, and no data on whether the unconscious bias training actually does what they think it does.

This is a classic case of the political left seizing a study and saying, “This, this justifies everything we always wanted to do.”

The 9-1-1 call was at 4:30. The arrest was at 5:12 pm. There is no clear indication of how long they were there before the 9-1-1 call, but it was long enough for them to admit they were "waiting for a friend". In any case, the manager asked them to leave several times before calling 9-1-1, and the police asked them to leave three times before arresting them. These are spoiled brats who wanted an arrest to create #FakeNews. Private property is nearly absolute; I would have bought a drink immediately out of respect for the owner, and I would have left immediately when asked.
4:35 p.m. - Nelson and Robinson arrive
4:37 p.m. - Police are called
4:41 p.m. - Officers arrive
4:44 p.m. - Officers requested backup and a supervisor
4:45 p.m. - dispatch checked on the officers and sent additional backup.
4:57 p.m. - Officers requested report numbers
5:00 p.m. - Officers were en route to police headquarters with the two men.
Anyway the fiasco got Starbucks attention and they held a meeting today to discuss policy .
