Mitt Romney: 'Too early' to say if I'll support Trump in 2020
Washington Examiner ^ | July 1, 2018 | Daniel Chaitan

Posted on 07/01/2018 7:23:00 PM PDT by Pinkbell

Mitt Romney said it is "too early" to say he will support President Trump in 2020.

The Utah candidate for U.S. senator further explained to MSNBC's Kasie Hunt, in an interview that aired Sunday evening, that his prior prediction that Trump will get re-elected was not an endorsement.

"I also think Gavin Newsom will get elected [as governor] in California. That's not something I want to see, it's just something that's probably going to happen," Romney added.

Romney was also prompted to speak about whether he wants a Republican to challenge Trump in a 2020 primary.

"There will be people who decide, I presume, to get in a Republican primary," he said in reply.

Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts who was the failed 2012 Republican presidential nominee, was a harsh critic of Trump during the 2016 election, calling him a "phony" and a "fraud," but the two appeared to put their differences aside as Romey was briefly considered by Trump to be his first secretary of state.

Another critical reason to pick up several senate seats in November, so Romney’s vote won’t give him the leverage to play games with Trump’s agenda when important votes come up.

President Trump RARELY misreads people and does NOT suffer fools gladly. He has PLANS for Romney, or he would’ve appointed him, ‘Ambassador to Outer Mongolia’ when Romney came, hat in hand, to the White House after Election Day. ;)

I’m thinking it’s to eventually have Willard serve as the Poster Boy for RINOS-R-Us come 2020.

No More Kennedys! No More Clintons! No More Bushes! No more Mittens!

As a rabid NeverTrumper, I think Chucky Schumer is counting on Willard as Vote #1 to convict Trump after Pelosi’s House impeaches. This is the leftists plan, right? Ain’t gonna happen.

Aw good grief, the nausea we all will have to suffer once this cretin gets into the Senate. And we have to have a GOP Senator but why does it have to be this character?

You bastard, you are just jealous, that is the only reason. Besides, you have yet to win your own election as a carpetbagger.

. . . and Trump played him splendidly LOL..

He's probably going to play him splendidly as a senator as well.

Politics in Utah are completely different from those in Arizona. Hatch had to take conservative positions most of the time. Willard will be expected to do the same.

If he doesn't, there are not enough crossover Democrats who can save him in the next primary from the fate of the very forgettable soft conservative who was beaten in a primary by Mike Lee. I'm disappointed that Dr. Kennedy could not win the primary against slick Willard, but I guess the gratitude for his saving the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics + the Trump endorsement + the Romney money + the tribal pride from his presence atop the 2012 ticket was just to much to overcome.

He will be 77 when he finishes his first term in the U.S. Senate anyway. I have my doubts that he will even want to run for re-election.

Even John McCain has expressed support for #1 GWB and now TRUMP just prior to the elections but then turned around and became a gnit and sought to sabotage GWB and Trump’s agenda.

“The article also says that he voted for his wife in 2016, and he just recently said that Trump is not a role model for his grandchildren.”

Well duh! Trump’s not a Mormon. Romney will try against all odds to make sure it Mormonism over everything else. I know, I put up with that $hit growing up. I was told to “keep with my own.” It’s a recipe for disaster, shutting out most of the world because they are not members of “your church.” F*ck that! At my 50th high school reunion ( which was ten years ago) I had several female classmates tell me they were sorry I wasn’t “datable” when we went to school together. I truly hate the Mormon Church for what they did to my childhood, but they are not a whole lot different than most of the rest of “organized religion” in that regard. It’s just that they were the bunch that had roped my parents in.

Is it to late for a strong Conservative to run as an independent against Romney in the election this November? I’d rather see a democrat take the senate seat than have this elitist establishment prick take the seat.

Mitt is such an expert on being president, that he couldn’t even get elected. And who did he lose to? The worst president in our nation’s history, a Muslim Brotherhood collaborator...

He couldn’t beat out a man that was the sort to side with rioting people, violent ANTIFA and BLM street thugs.

He lost to a girlie boy who once said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,”

Mitt, you be sure and set Trump straight. /s

Two faced Mitt has already said his piece about Trump, 3/3/16.

"Here’s what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University.

He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.

His domestic policies would lead to recession. His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president and his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill."
