Live coverage: FBI agent faces grilling on Capitol Hill - Peter Strzok

Hearing begins at 10AM EST:

Live Coverage: Peter Strzok Questioned by Members of Congress

House lawmakers are poised to question Peter Strzok on Thursday in what is sure to be a lengthy, tense standoff between Republicans and the FBI agent who once worked on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference.

Strzok has been in Republicans' sights for several months after a Justice Department inspector general investigation revealed that he exchanged text messages before the 2016 election that were critical of Donald Trump with Lisa Page, a former FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair at the time.

Mueller promptly removed Strzok from the Russia investigation when the messages were revealed, but Republicans have zeroed in on him as key to uncovering what they allege was systemic FBI bias against Trump during the election. Democrats, meanwhile, have cast the effort as a politically-driven charade.

Lawmakers questioned Strzok behind closed doors late last month — now, those on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will have the opportunity to question him publicly.

Strzok is under subpoena to testify before the committees in the public hearing.

Strzok plans to call scrutiny ‘another notch in Putin’s belt’

8:30 a.m.

Strzok reportedly plans to tell lawmakers that the focus on his anti-Trump text messages is aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Associated Press, which reviewed prepared remarks Strzok is expected to deliver, reported that the FBI agent will defend himself against the intense scrutiny from GOP lawmakers by saying his work has been free of political bias.

“Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” Strzok will say, according to the AP.

He is expected to tell lawmakers that Congress’s focus on his actions and text messages “is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemies’ campaign to tear America apart.”

Is there one Dem. on this committee who has even the semblance of a brain? This woman is by far the dumbest one yet. Who is she as they haven’t shown her face?

It’s interesting that when any GOP brings up a past issue, Strzok “don’t know nuttin”. When a Dem ask, his memory is clear as a bell. How convenient.

“This guy’s arrogance and ego is going to be his downfall.”

Big question, though, what does “downfall” mean? The DOJ is the office to create his downfall, and that ain’t gonna happen. The guy will skate. Like everybody else.

“Can you imagine what it was like when his poor wife ever asked him why he was out so late at night”

She was probably thrilled that he was somewhere/ANYwhere else. “Can’t you stay later, Honey?”

Probably not much. His FBI career is over. He has 26 years of service so he probably can retire. It will be interesting to see where he pops up after leaving the FBI.

Handsome? He looks like Jack Black! And he was very disrespectful during the hearing. He chattered and laughed like a stupid teenager throughout the whole thing. If he were my son, I would have smacked him when he got home!

For someone that was the lead investigator on all these investigations he sure is coming across as an A1 DUMB@$$. Wonder if he really thinks anyone other than the idiot dimocrats in the room are buying his BS.

Nobody ‘skates’. We all still have to live with ourselves and take ourselves with us wherever we go; and if we don’t straighten out, we get into more trouble.

EVO X asks an interesting question - where will he turn up next?

That depends upon how the millions who watched this actually assimilate it.

I think the Dems showed themselves as the empty power-mongers and ideologists that they are. They didn’t come across as real people who are genuinely interested in Truth.

What percentage of the millions will change their minds? Libtards are mindless, and the apathetic don’t have the attention span.

You are forgetting how many people in this country are simply ‘traditional Democrats’ - because their families were, for generations, before the Dems went crazy.

All day today, I’ve been remembering Watergate - because it was my first introduction to this kind of display. Back then, even when they were wrong, most of the Democrats still conducted themselves with dignity and with respect for the process and for the Truth.

Over the years, they have lost that dignity and honesty. But the vast majority of American people are still authentically HUMAN and AMERICAN, believing in and desiring Truth - they can *sense* truth, and know when they are being played.

Add to that the fact that Trump is really improving things on many levels and growing in popularity, and I see major wins/changes coming. A certain ‘spirit’ filters down even to people who aren’t obviously paying attention. It becomes something that’s ‘in the air’.

I still believe in my fellow Americans. Most of them are not as stupid as some seem to think.

I hope you are right, but 66 million brain dead people voted for Hillary, and she says that 41% of those are socialists.
