The father of two Parkland school shooting survivors was fatally shot at his own North Lauderdale convenience store during a robbery, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
Ayub Ali, a father of four, died Tuesday. Just five months prior, his son and daughter survived the mass shooting that killed 17 and injured 17 others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
According to a BSO report, Lauderdale Lakes BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue paramedics found the injured 61-year-old store clerk when they arrived at Aunt Molly's Food Store, located at 1691 S. State Road. Ali was transported to Fort Lauderdale's Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect forced Ali to his store's back office, where he was shot.
"He took money from the cash register and left. The thief returned shortly after and shot Ali," BSO said in a statement. "The suspect wore a black vest, reddish-orange shorts with a black and white stripe on the sides, reddish-orange slides and a skull cap with 'Miami' stitched on the front."
The convenience store reopened Thursday and loyal customers placed a makeshift memorial for Ali, who was born in Bangladesh.
Parkland's Bangladeshi community has stepped up to support Ali's widow and children. On Feb. 14, Ali's daughter was in a classroom in MSD's 1200 building, where the massacre occurred, according to a family friend. One of his sons also was at the school.
"This is the biggest part that hurts me. They have to be without their dad for the rest of their life," Ali's friend Alex Rios told NBC 6.

NO it is not a reason for gun control of the people at home who had nothing to do with this and are law abiding.
NO there aren’t “too many guns around everywhere.” Using a gun to murder someone in a robbery or any other time is illegal.
Taking the guns away from innocent people, violating their rights, is not going to add to the safety of robbery victims who face a criminal illegally using a weapon during a crime. There are already laws on the books against such guns being used.

As usual with the press, including no description of the killers amounts to a description. Video simply confirms the obvious.

Tragic as this is, the connection to Parkland is extraneous This would have attracted barely a local mention. Instead, it’s used a a hook to pull gun control heart strings.
Did David Hogg ride his bike to the crime scene?
Were the kids “survivors,” or did they just happen to be somewhere on the school grounds when the shooting happened?
The way the media is blurring the lines is ridiculous.

There is an old phrase, “nothing good happens after midnight”. I’m beginning to think the following is also true: Nothing good ever happens in Broward county.

Legally armed, background checked, and properly trained, citizens stop situations like this every day.
I’m so sorry one or two of those legally armed Americans were not in that store at the time this happened.
There is no law that the left can make that will stop criminals from killing.
Criminals ignore all laws and there are already a hundred laws on the books that this slimy maggot ignored and violated in the sequence of events that led to the death of this good man.
You stop a bad person with a gun in only one way, by the proper and timely response of a good person with a gun.
This is proven again in this incident. Good people die when bad people with a gun are not stopped.

Were his children in one of the classrooms where others were shot, or were they simply on the same campus at the time of the shooting.
The latter definition includes every single student in attendance at Parkland the day of the shooting.
