Ask Lisa Barsoomian and her husband for their thoughts.

Yep. Gotta find a way to ease them out of NATO.

And the Turkish parliament voted against letting the 4th ID transit Turkey to enter Iraq to take down Saddam. Some ally.

Is Andrew Brunson’s Release More Important Than Alliance With Turkey?

The answer is yes. Andrew is not merely one person. He is a line in the sand. While we would love for Turkey to join civilization again, they are moving further away. And we need to move further away from them. We need to withdraw the benefits of civilization as they stop being civilized. Treating Americans well is one thing. But we need to stop treating them like a democracy because they are no longer a democracy. They are in NATO for now. But they don’t have to be. We could use Romania instead. And we could support our friends the Kurds, who deserve our friendship.

“Yes, but are you going to want the government to arrest them and put them in jail for 2 years for doing so?”

Yes if they become chronic pests.

“..Make disciples of all nations..”

Maybe Turkey doesn’t want to be a “disciple”?

but please don’t call it an “alliance.”

I was at Incirlik. I would agree wholeheartedly. 👍

Is Andrew Brunson's Release More Important Than Alliance With Turkey?

One is possible. The other is not with the government currently in power.

So yes.

Next question?

No ally would keep a US citizen as a hostage like this. Turkey made this choice, we are just reacting to it (and only because DJT is the POTUS - if it was the Fake Hawaiian or Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit, we’d still be kissing Erdogen’s arse and Brunson would rot until he died.

Turkey as a secular state was our ally. Turkey as a radical Moslem state is our enemy. I hope that we can return to the former, and for the same in Iran. These results are at least possible now, under Trump, whereas under any other leader we’ve had for the past 35 years it was not.

I don’t get these Christian hand wringers. Turkey most definitely should not be an ally. Why would Christians want to be allied with a state that’s ideology is one to persecute Christians?

Excerpts from: http://www.capitalcentury.com/1904.html

It all happened in 1904, when the 64-year-old Perdicaris and his stepson found themselves taken hostage from their villa in Tangier, Morocco by a flamboyant, black-bearded Mulai Ahmed er Raisuli, and he wanted to extort a heavy ransom from the Sultan of Morocco -- not to mention embarrass the sovereign by showing his powerlessness to protect foreign citizens.

This was more than a simple kidnapping in a distant land. For President Theodore Roosevelt, it was an opportunity to start waving his "big stick," sending battleships steaming toward the African coast to ensure Perdicaris' safe release.

It also gave Roosevelt the chance to issue one of his most blood-curdling proclamations, a statement that helped ensure his re-election while sending Americans wild with joy:

"Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead!"

Why yes it is. If we let Turkey get away with randomly abducting American citizens to use as leverage against America and its interests then they will be no end of this behavior by Turkey and other shit-hole countries. Turkey needs to be pounded down to the ground until this innocent pastor is released.

RE: Why would Christians want to be allied with a state that’s ideology is one to persecute Christians?

Turkey did not persecute Christians until Erdogan came along. And Erdogan left Christians alone until very recently.

Sorry but I have little sympathy for someone who decides to live in Turkey for over 20 years and obviously gets involved in politics.
