The suspect is being held on a federal immigration detainer, according to officials.
No other information has yet been given.
The 20-year-old's remains were found on Tuesday on a rural property in Poweshiek County close to the town of Guernsey, around 10 miles from Brooklyn, where Mollie vanished on July 18.
The FAA issued a no fly zone in the area which will last until Wednesday morning. It prevents news choppers from flying overhead.
Police are not releasing any information until 4pm local time

A lot of big farmers in the country are like a lot of big construction companies in the cities. They like their cheap labor.

Most likely the illegal was working for the farmers in the area. ie the hog farm.

I lived in rural Iowa for 8 years. Unless it is grunt work at a hog or poultry plant, illegals dont work for ‘big farmers’ who with their big combines and tractors can run 2000 plus acre spreads solo. The big culprits are
the towns with the processing plants, like Denison.
No Brooklyn is not a sanctuary city. My brother-in-law grew up in Brooklyn and went to school with Mollie’s mother. The whole town has been worried sick, being it’s a small town — a very small town.
This will not go over well in Iowa.

A lot of these small Iowa towns welcome illegals that save local business’s with cheap wages and fill up their declining schools with anchor babies that bring state and federal money. Plus welfare health care and other perks.
