We need to keep in mind that since 1997, the House of Representatives has paid out settlements of all types, including sexual activities of our elected officials to the tune of about $17M.

Candidate Trump would have had to use his personal money, not tax payer money, to craft settlements along the same lines. All of this is distasteful, but all of it seems necessary at some level. A billionaire diddling women who have deemed themselves as sex objects is not unfamiliar to the history of billionaires.

Politico and even Snopes admit to the existence of the House settlement fund, and very seldom are those settlements brought in to any courthouse. This fund was highlighted in December 2017 without much fanfare, but with many shoulder shrugs.

Politicians and public figures will be dealing with sexual accusations well into the future.

BTW, I don't care - Trump is a street-fighting insurgent, and we need him to fix stuff, even if it gets ugly. We indeed have double standards based on party affiliation. But MAGA anyway.

How many of these settlements were paid out right before an election of a Congress person with a harrassment charge against them? So it’s not illegal to pay off someone with tax payers money but it is illegal if you use your own personal money or campaign funds?

Hope Trumps lawyers cite this disparity if it comes to any charges.
