My 32 year old son is a down and dirty Marine grunt who was 20 years old when he was in the 2/2 Marines in Iraq. He himself would say he is no hero and he sure as hell wouldn’t make some dirty bank deal as a senator and be such a douchebag as McCain was. Trump’s statement that he “liked the ones that weren’t shot down” is always taken out of context.
He explained in the same interview that the captured ones returned as heroes and were lauded. But the others came home to no honor and were forgotten. He wanted all vets to be honored.
My son served in Iraqi Freedom, also a Marine grunt. He was in the 1/4 and lived in dirt bag huts near Syrian border.

My son was also near the Syrian border. Task force Tripoli I think. He doesn’t say anything. It’s been over 10 years. He just hugs my neck for the packages I always sent when he was there and at his base at Camp Lejeune. Please thank your son for his service and let me know if you all need anything.
