Thanks Nauti. We are saturated already here in panhandle after weeks of what my dad always called dog days. Praying it dies out in the gulf.

Gordon has developed into a TS a tad bit more quickly than previously predicted. Good news is the rather rapid forward speed of 17 mph. If this zippy pace continues through landfall, it will reduce rainfall amounts in any particular location.
Florence is a fish. Never a concern, except for news ratings.

I pulled that thread, it had a completely irresponsible headline claiming a hurricane was forecast to hit NOLA when that was simply not the case.

I still to this day have vivid memories and nightmares of TS Allison in 2001 in the greater Houston area. 4 feet throughout the house and 80% destruction of my home in my neighborhood in Aldine, TX.

I am treating this one serious. Tropical storm Allison was just a tropical storm. 32 inches of rain later.. You know it!! I'll never forget that one.

I have no idea about that. Like I said, I just wanted to apologize for not replying to the folks that gave me some good information. I hit reply and everything disappeared and when I went back to read the pings they were gone, too. I thought maybe they might post here since they have an interest in the storm.

NEVER rite off anything in the Gulf until it is gone! I recall a few years back Tropical Storm Cindy(?) Went to bed unconcerned then, during the night, things got ugly. It had turned into a Cat 1 at landfall and you could tell the difference!

Hey hey NN nice to see you running the ship again.
Im pretty sure we had the eye of the forming storm here most of the morning we had winds of 20-25 but the direction was all over the place from east to north east dropping to south and now at southwest indicating rotation,in 24 hours the winds will be up somewhat who knows how high
its moving fast and will be gone by tomorrow but we had it before anyone else when it was just forming.
Buoy wise Both <molasses and Sombrero never got below 29.89 barometer which is not much in the way of low pressure and both are rising now.
We need a buoy station at Alligator reef but with NOAA running things we are lucky half of them even work.

Right now NDBC buoy station NFBF1—in Northwestern Florida Bay is about dead center for the storm and of course this station like all the others around it is down. Typical of how NOAA runs things. Hopefully, one day Pres.Trump will sell off these valuable stations to private enterprise where they can be maintained properly.
NOAA or the govt. could make money on the leases that are privatized instead of screwing them up. And, we could get valuable info during a time of need for millions of citizens. Its a no-brainer to privatize them. If Trump finds out my guess he will get them away from govt. control really quick.
Half of these stations don't even give wind info making NOAA a bad joke when you really need the info.

Thanks for your local storm update! You were right on target when we were chatting at sunrise. Sadly, your Labor Day fishing plans are dashed.
Have you sent The Donald a message with your buoy privatization suggestion?
