They are doing what democRATS always do. They protest, march, yell and scream and call people all kinds of vulgar names, instead of debating the issue.
The democRATS don't care if they can't stop Kavanaugh. They have a base to satisfy and they will take whatever sophomoric, juvenile, petty, ugly actions they have to please their radical Left base.
Apparently, now that radical base sees Schumer as not going far enough to disrupt the hearings and proceedings. They want chaos, anarchy and antifa mobsters in the Senate hearing room.
So don't use rationale to determine whether the democRATS "get it" or not. Think the worst and that is what will probably happen.
