when I went to high school my history teacher who was a demacrat prided himself in the fact that his students for the most part did not no his political leanings. that was the 1970s.

Had a Political Science class way back in college with the professor also being the county chair of the democrat party.

Didn't shut up conservative viewpoints. Different times.

I taught with a liberal woman who was also a social studies teacher. She always said that she kept her bias out if the classroom and her students didn't know her political leaning. Of course she was wrong, all the kids knew.
I told her I had more respect for my students intelligence. I told them the 1st day that I was a conservative, but that didn't change what happened in history and that they were free to disagree with me. However, both of us needed to be able to defend our opinions.
