House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Thursday that the video obtained by Breitbart News of a Google all-hands meeting following the election of Donald Trump obtained calls for a congressional hearing. “It’s time for [Google] to come into a hearing,” McCarthy told Family Research Center’s Tony Perkins on his Washington Watch radio show. “Google controls 90 percent of all Internet searches… They control what we’re seeing.”
The video shows Google executives and staff bemoaning Trump’s election and making plans to thwart the president’s agenda using its massive online platform.
“If they’re using their own personal beliefs when it comes to philosophy to control some of that — that’s disturbing, and I think that’s a reason why they should have to come before committee,” McCarthy said.
“The American public has a right to know,” McCarthy said. “We need transparency in this.”
“These are questions that need to be answered and they should not be afraid to come and answer them,” McCarthy said.
“The whole [thing] sounded like a progressive therapy session,” Perkins, president of FRC said. “It was an admission when [a Google executive] said even conservatives in the building were afraid to speak up in conversation”

Actually...instead of bringing in the CEO....I think I’d bring the whole board in and ask them (under oath), if this was an agenda that they approved, and if company man-hours or funds were being used in this fashion. That might have more of a dramatic effect, and trigger some dumping of the stock. That usually gets people’s attention.

This is just political theater to bolster McCarthy’s campaign for House Speaker. Hearings are platforms for bloviating politicians. Nothing more.
It amazes me these people are just now figuring out Google is run by left wing hacks and the searches are manipulated. It’s been obvious for years.

Since google controls 90% of Internet searches, they should be broken up like ATT and Standard Oil. No need to impose any content control. Just breaking up the company would force competition.

I also Tweeted that Trump should not trust McConnell to get him wall funding next year, its been 2 years already and no wall funding. I suggested Vetos of H1b H2 visas or renewal of visas until wall funding for the full wall come thru.
American workers first, and given how hostile Silicon Valley is to conservatives pull their H1b visas.

You’re likely right. There will be no consequences. I see it as just more theater and a waste of time and money.
I get ONE vote, Google shouldn’t receive more than one vote. GREAT BIG, Large, Monstrously YUGE fine (6-8 billion dollars) is in order.
