If Trump is successful - and I think he truly understands the magnitude - he will be a titan of history. The US might conceivably get another run of true self government perhaps lasting generations. That is, until those not yet born forget once again all the hard lessons many of us have experienced.
Sadly, we are at this lowest point as a nation because we tolerate all manner of corruption, moral and criminal.
Not even 3% of our citizens are willing to repeatedly muster up in DC and state capitols to exercise our hard won first ammendment right to protest ever worsening grievances from collective government that forcible takes 45% of your wealth every year. You work for fed, state and town gov’t class until June of every year, to finally keep the fruits of your work hours. Of a 2000 hour work year, you owe and pay 900 hours as a slave without a real say in what they WILL DO TO YOU.
An apathetic populace that votes nearly 90% of incumbents in, unfortunately gets exactly what it deserves.

I think it goes back to the early 50’s. Ike figured it out and tried to warn about it. JFK payed the ultimate price for it and I have often wondered if Hinkley screwed up at point blank range and Reagan’s secret service agent going to the hospital instead of the White House thwarted another attempt by the deep state.
The real corruption I believe started under Bush 41 and intensified under Clinton and with 911 they were off to the races. Trump needs to watch his back these people are power hungry and think they answer to no one.

If the FBI will do this to the President, then what makes you think that they (or the State Police, County Sheriff, or Local Police) won’t do it to you?
