Rod Rosenstein’s departure was imminent. Now he is likely to survive until after the midterms
Washington Post ^

Rod J. Rosenstein’s departure seemed so certain this week that his boss’s chief of staff told colleagues that he had been tapped by the White House to take over as second-in-command of the Justice Department, while another official would supervise the special counsel probe into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, people familiar with the matter said.

But by Monday afternoon, the succession plan had been scrapped. Rosenstein, who told the White House he was willing to quit if President Trump wouldn’t disparage him, would remain the deputy attorney general in advance of a high-stakes meeting on Thursday to discuss the future of his employment. The other officials, too, would go back to work, facing the prospect that in just days they could be leading the department through a historic crisis.

Inside the Justice Department on Tuesday, officials still struggled to understand the events that nearly produced a seismic upheaval in their leadership ranks — until it didn’t — and they braced for a potential repeat of that chaos later in the week.

The President has no option but to fire him first thing Thursday. The President must demonstrate he is 100% in control of the executive branch. The Amerixan people cant be left wondering if there was a coup attempt or if one could still be in progress. The fact that Rosenstein has not resigned with the Congress now threatening impeachment is proof enough he is dirty. Waiting even one day casts doubt if the white house is truly in control of the DOJ or are they in charge.

The best political move for the GOP is to start the impeachment proceedings. Trump probably tells them that too.
Then Trump can fire at will right before the election.

Speculations are us.

“Sessions began telling people on Sunday that Rosenstein might be in trouble, according to people familiar with the matter. “

You might have known this worthless little Alabama cracker POS somnambulist would wake up long enough to lob this turd into the DC Swamp.

agitprop

Newt said a couple of years ago, Let Trump be Trump

I’ll do that before paying attention to the agitprop and propaganda which is getting worse by the day

He will see that his NY buddies indict Trump on something and it doesn’t matter that it will go nowhere. Consider the slimeball testifying before the committee; he doesn’t care. He has dirt on the system and they will protect him.

Rosenstein apparently tried to engineer his own firing in order to get the Obstruction of Justice charge propped up. Trump didn’t bite. Rosenstein will stay where he is so long as he is useful to Trump. So long as Rosie is in office he is a public figure and keeps putting his food in it and looking more and more nefarious. He needs to be still in office when the sewage barrel is turned over.

Never, ever make even inconsequential decisions based on what you read in the New York Times.

Especially after his retraction to release those fisa docs, etc. Some kind of sign would be nice.

“Let Trump be Trump.”

The President knows what he is doing. He started out behind the 8 ball but he knows what he is up against.

The man shoots from the hip until it comes to high level personnel changes. The only mistakes were early; Manafort being the biggest. He has a strategy and he will execute it.

“Waiting even one day casts doubt if the white house is truly in control of the DOJ or are they in charge.”

Nope. There is no doubt. The White House is not in control of the DOJ.

According to the republicans in congress, the DOJ is supposed to be “independent”.

On Thursday, I think Trump will ask Rosenstein to testify before the committee.

Will Rosenstein testify and what will Trump's response be if he doesn't?

Either away, Rosenstein will be gone. The only question is, will he be fired on Thursday or will he be fired right after the election?

I agree except the firing should wait until after the election. They should start impeaching Rosenstein now, he’s been stiff-arming them long enough.

Trump says that he may have to get involved with the DOJ.

That means that Trump currently isn't in control.

A. It seems to be missing a few conjunctions here and there.
“departure seemed so certain (FOR) this week..

B. The heavy use of the same Second-Person pronoun “He” is confusing.
“HIS boss’s chief of staff told colleagues that HE had been..

C. The whole mess equals what my English teacher would have called a Run-On sentence. That happens when the writer tries to make the Topic sentence do too many things.

I recognize Run-On sentences because I often make that mistake myself. I forget to take a breath. Front loaded sentences remain out of balance.

This article is total BS. Any time your enemies purport to tell you what is in your self-interest, well it is time to be very skeptical. Rosenstein is a disaster who must go. I really hope the President fires him on Thursday.

If Rosie is fired Obstruction of Justice becomes a big deal. If he quits in such a way that it can be proclaimed as “forced,” same thing. One story is that he said he was quitting and was told that if he did there would be legal consequences for him that he might not like. He will experience those consequences anyway but not quite so soon.

If Trump can’t fire coup conspirators in the executive branch(high treason co-conspirators), then we might as well just turn out the lights.

The GOP fears too much on what the deep state has on them.
