I think that picture was taken earlier in the process. Those tracks seem to be for conveyance of equipment and personnel during construction. They do not look like the ‘permanent tracks’ that surely are there by now.

As far as being crooked, I think it is part of the optical illusion that makes this tunnel appear very short.

That's not to say it is perfectly straight, it's just that the 'crookedness' looks worse than it is due to the perspective.
