Why Democrats are staying silent about the migrant caravan

Now the Dems are on the defensive as Trump sends the military and a clear message that he will defend America’s sovereignty in the face of what he calls an “invasion.”

The change is striking. Four months ago, critics on the left wouldn’t shut up about the border and some, like Mayor Bill de Blasio, made grandstanding trips to Texas detention facilities and held press conferences to denounce Trump in the harshest possible language. Now, despite the president’s tough talk and use of the military, leftist pols hardly make a peep, fearful that defending the caravan could be political suicide.

The stark turnaround serves as a reminder of how quickly the political winds can change direction. Recall that Dems shut down the government over the “Dreamers” legislation, but got nothing but blame and now rarely mention the issue. And while immigration looked like a sure loser for the GOP in June, the sheer size of the caravan, and the violence displayed by some marchers in Guatemala and Mexico, is galvanizing Republican and conservative voters and could tip next week’s midterms.

Trump’s latest wrinkle, a controversial bid to end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants, reveals both his commitment to the issue and the political opportunity he sees. He stresses the caravan in the numerous rallies he’s holding for GOP candidates, and tweets about it often.

The Dems, the Left generally, were convinced by the media that they had hit a home run with the Kiddies In Cages smear and figured to do as they always do, double down on it. But the Kiddies In Cages campaign also highlighted that illegal alien invasion was a legitimate problem, and this over-the-top reprise only serves to validate that case. It turned into a "we're going to swarm you and there's nothing you can do about it" campaign, and now the supposed defenders of human rights were shown in another light, as enablers of criminality and invasion. That's the image the Dems are running from, because unsurprisingly it doesn't poll well and in fact could cost them the election.

The whole No Borders movement is an international one and suddenly it has become apparent that that's where Communism has been hiding since the fall of the Soviet Union. Certainly it has been very successful in destabilizing the European Union. It and its proponents in the United States aim at nothing less than our country's downfall and are perfectly open about stating that end. That too does not tend to poll very well for the most internal of all U.S. national elections, the Congressional mid-terms. It's hurting the Dems, and they want the hurting to stop but they don't want the movement to stop, and so they simply pretend that the whole thing isn't happening, or isn't important, despite their media allies proclaiming precisely the opposite.

We'll know next Wednesday just how bad the damage is. In the meantime Trump is building an insurmountable argument for the wall - hard not to when it was handed to him all packaged up by his political enemies and tied with a bow. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

“Can you imagine where we would be right now in the campaigns if the Republicans had supported even 50% of the Trump Agenda?”

That just shows you we have no representation in D.C., save Trump. You could count on two hands the number of congressmen and senators that actually voted for Trump. Most voted for Hillary. That’s how FUBARed our fed govt truly is.

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard
the lefty loonies state that the wall
will accomplish absolutely nothing.
They’re scared, as they know it will.
Their child trafficking, and drug rivers
will slow to a trickle. And the American
taxpayer will no longer be on the hook
for supporting these invaders.
