My intelligence sources tell me he had worked as an intelligence agent for the Saudi intelligence service, GID, for around 20 years. At one point he was sent by GID to Sudan to meet Osama bin Laden and to try to lure him away from terrorism.

I don't believe this, since bin Laden was doing what the Saudis want done.
They are both Islamic fundamentalists who work against us Kafirs,(Infidels) -Tom

Politics are pretty murky in the Middle East now, as they were in Europe in the 1930s and 1940s.

It's just as likely that somebody was playing both sides of the street, or trying to keep a foot in several camps, as that they had a clear agenda.

So Jamal Khashoggi – a former Saudi intelligence agent, a man who was close to the Muslim Brotherhood and a sworn opponent of MBS' reform program– was in the process of setting up a centre to promote the ideology of the MB.

I'll care about Khashoggi's death the exact second someone at the Washington Post gives a damn about the hundreds of Americans murdered by illegals. (Oh and the percent of American journalists murdered is lower than the world's average... so why should we care?)

Same excuse 'journalists' give when asked why they don't give a damn about illegls murdering us)

The secret intelligence of the Saudis as do our CIA know how to kill effectively with no trace. If they wanted him dead by order of the king (actually not a bad idea) it would not have been done in the embassy. I do not know why he was killed there but it sure as hell was not by orders of the Saudi King, he is not stupid.

If he did order his death, it would be the one bullet to the head by a very skilled agent that would not be caught. It would take a little time and patience but one skilled person could do this easily.

This whole thing seems to be an effort to discredit the Saudi King and make him a pariah. He is pro western and is slowly liberalizing Saudi. The Wahhabis hate this. There is a Wahhabi in the center of this.

“Jamal Khashoggi was a player, not a bleeding heart liberal”

I believe he was Muslim Brotherhood, therefore incredibly not credible.

I share that same suspicion, although you mean Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “MBS” rather than the Saudi King.

It looks like it was done to embarrass MBS and break western support for him.

On the other hand, some intel people who know the Middle East tell me that a ham-fisted operation like this isn’t surprising to them. They don’t consider the Saudis to be slick assassins like the Russians.

Khashoggi’s Muslim Brotherhood ties go back to 1970 but Downer says that Saudi intelligence had used him anyway.

He must have thought that protected him despite his working for Erdogan, Qatar, and other enemies of MBS and Saudi Arabia. Apparently it didn’t.

This guy was played up in the media like forever whereas those guys murdered in Benghazi thanks to Hillary and 0bama got scant press coverage.<>
Other than the 4 special operators, why no interviews of the Benghazi survivors?

Their business. Not ours.

I am more concerned with the Saudis of 9/11.

But his heart apparently was with the Muslim Brotherhood

Yes, and he was said to have died in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkey is now the home of the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorists since they got kicked out of Egypt. And Turkey is the seat of support for all ME Islamist Terrorists. Including sheltering and employing ISIS.

When the New York Times and Washington Post give a damn about Americans murdered by illegals - THEN and ONLY then will we give a damn about Jamal Khashoggi.

(Liberals in the press say the percentage of people murdered by illegals is low - well, the number of journalists working in the US murdered is low too... so screw your pity party MSM)

The reason Khashoggi’s death can’t be ignored is the pressure being exerted on US foreign policy regarding Saudi Arabia. Mohammed bin Salman has been trying to weaken the influence of Wahhabism and effectively to reform Islam. He formed an alliance with Israel and Egypt and some of the Gulf states while Obama was in office because they all believe that Iran is the major threat to their survival and none of them believed that you could trust the Obama United States.

So Iran’s friends would love nothing more than to weaken MbS, and to split off the KSA from the United States, and they are using Khashoggi’s murder as a tool to do that.
