Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith Is Tripping All Over Herself and Dems See an Opportunity in Mississippi
Daily Beast ^ | November 16, 2018 | Gideon Resnick

Posted on 11/19/2018 7:35:42 AM PST by C19fan

Nearly a year ago, Democrats pulled off an upset in the South against a Republican candidate hobbled by controversy. Now, they’re hoping to duplicate that feat in Mississippi, in the last Senate election of the cycle.

Virtually no prognosticator has given the party much of a chance. But this past week, the Republican in the race, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), has been caught twice making wild and insensitive remarks: the first expressing comfort attending a public hanging; the second openly musing about suppressing Democratic votes. All of which has encouraged the party to rethink whether the long shot Democrat in the race, former U.S. secretary of agriculture Mike Espy, is really that big a long shot at all.

Rinos hate conservatives;

And while I think out and out class warfare is the wrong way to approach things, there is a line with a great deal of truth in it from Alabama’s Song of the South:

Daddy was a veteran [WWI from context], a Southern Democrat, I’ve yet to meet a rich man who would vote like that.

I grew up in Southern Oregon where we had many people out of the south either immediately or one or two generations. Good folk. And not rich. My maternal Grandfather’s side drifted in from the Ozarks around 1910.

If this is close or a loss we need to do some hard thinking as to how we are campaigning as a party.

It must be looked at, win or lose. I've written a lot about this lately so I'm not going into more detail here, but suffice to say that the lack of any common Republican message and strategy other than to hope the President holds a local rally combined with no thought to guarding against RAT voter fraud are why the Senate majority will be held hostage by Romney channeling his inner McCain and the House is in RAT hands.

Prediction 1: Sometime in the next few days, the fake news will release a poll showing the race statistically tied.

Prediction 2: Smith will win by double digits.

“And then they remind me, that there’s a lot of liberal folks in those other schools who that maybe we don’t want to vote. Maybe we want to make it just a little more difficult. And I think that’s a great idea,” Hyde-Smith says in the 18-second video.”

Just how is that NOT stupid?

To get caught on video saying that, in the south.

Can’t prove it, but she was a Democrat until 2010.
She now claims she doesn’t remember if she voted for Hillary or Obama in the primary in 2008.

An R jersey is better than a D jersey, but in this case, just barely.

“Really?? This coming from the state who gives us Pelosi, Feinstein, Watters, etc?? Leave your self-righteous, stereotyped assumptions in your own state.”

Most of California’s problems come mostly from people who have moved here, not from home-grown idiots. Pelosi came to us from MD, and Schitt from MA. as examples. The idiots in Alabama and Mississippi have lived there all of their lives.
I used to have an office in Memphis. One of my employees had a brother in Mississippi’s Parchmen Prison (for drug possession). At that time, the prison officials used old telephone magnetos ( from the old crank phones) to “discipline” inmates by connecting their genitals to the magnetos. It was called “ringing up” the inmate! What an enlightened place, Mississippi!

The real problem in MS is BossHog Barbour, part of the Cheap Labor GOPe who sabotaged the conservative MsDaniel in favor of the ailing Thad Cochran who had to give up the job. The woman appointed to fill his seat was a Democrat until Democrats had trouble winning in MS. No wonder conservatives are not enthusiastic about her.

“Well, it doesn’t help if you publically [sic] spout what some consider racist remarks.”

If you are a Republican, speaking ENGLISH is racist! It is hard to find an expression that cannot be twisted. In a country where having a stalk of cotton in a decoration means you want to return to slave days, ANYTHING a Republican says can and will be twisted to call it racist. Democrats, of course, have their ‘get out of jail race card’ ready to play...

Ever wonder why the GOP lost in states like California, Wisconsin, etc etc by allowing the media to drive the issues? In too many of those GOP campaigns vote suppression is a “NO NO”. When conservatives factually point out political positions and the results their socialist opponents are taking right away they’re accused of (and should be achieving) “suppressing the vote” . Right now many of those quality losing candidates should be bringing “The DON’T BLAME ME I VOTED FOR”, as what the media calls a meme, back what it’s costing voters issues that should have been such issues for 2018

Why doesn’t MS change the way they vote for elections. Why not have primaries where only Republicans participate and where only Democrats participate.

You are pointing out another “quaint feature” of Deep South Politics, switching Parties so you can stay on whichever is currently in the majority. What that says is that the politicians there have no real moral compass, but rather just seek ways to stay employed and able to keep sucking on the government tit!

“pretentious jagoff.”

Naughty, naughty. Now, after you’ve come back to your double wide from the outhouse, why don’t you get busy and fry something? I guess you can be thankful though that you are not from New Jersey!

What would help is Republican candidates standing with President Trump, the citizens and the rule of law.

We have been fighting both parties for enforcement and border security for decades.
That was why we rejected all of the established GOP and went with Donald Trump.
That was why President Trump was elected.
We want to keep our country.

We don’t want any more weasels who want to sell us out with amnesty.

It’s stupid if you are running for office.

100 out of 100 times.

Republicans don’t need her. She’ll be a net negative.

Why? You don’t want to be exposed to articles and opinions you don’t like? You want to suppress others point of view? I thought Democrats did that.

That’s BS. Most of CA’s problems are just as home-grown as any other state - in fact worse since the folks leaving CA take their liberal/socialists politics and voting record with them. Both Senators are CA natives as well as Moonbeam and Newsome. Besides, it still doesn’t take away your constant stereotyping of everyone else.
