Hanson: Beware of Media Spin about Khashoggi; We Need to Make Decisions on KSA Soberly
Security Studies Group ^ | November 18, 2018 | Security Studies Group (SSG)

Washington Post is leading a Media Crusade against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman over the Khashoggi killing

The CIA has no evidence against him despite all the spin We need to make decisions based on US strategic interests not media attacks

Khashoggi Case- Analysis of an Information Operation

The killing of Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey caught the attention of the entire world for an extended period of time, much longer than the news of one murder would normally do. Security Studies Group decided to examine why.

We took a rigorous look at the actual origins and spread of the unique aspects of this story to see where it came from and who was moving it around. The results were not exactly what we expected. Here we present our results.

SSG Firehoses in the Khashoggi Case

Executive summary

The Turkish government successfully used an information operation to elevate the case of Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance into a major international incident with strategic implications. The disappearance of Khashoggi is contemporaneous with the disappearance, and possible murder, of the head of INTERPOL, Meng Hongwei. In one of these cases a highly visible individual with international position vanished without a trace and little fanfare; in the other a stunning amount of media coverage resulted in one of the largest news stories of the year. The US Secretary of State was personally dispatched to investigate, as was later the Director of Central Intelligence. The difference in these cases is caused by the existence of the Turkish information operation (IO), and the absence of any similar operation attempting to push for Chinese accountability.

The Turkish government attained success through an adaptation of a Russian technique that the RAND Corporation calls the “Firehoses of Falsehood Propaganda Model.”1 In fact the “Falsehood” aspect of this model is dispensable;

When I first read the US media accounts about the murder of Khashoggi and that it took place inside Turkey, alarm bells went off.

There is no legitimate news reporting anywhere in Turkey. Only State Approved Propaganda. So the story projected did not pass the smell test.

Now it looks like I was not the only person who felt that.

I can only imagine where the discussions and news cycles would have gone if our media had been this concerned over the beheadings of American journalists, Daniel Pearl and James Foley.

-—The CIA has no evidence against him despite all the spin -—

Lack of evidence never deterred us before when we wanted someone dead.

Just ask Hillary. Or George (both). Or Bill. Biraq said he was pretty good at killing people, if I remember correctly.

Yes, but they weren’t. Why?

The people pushing this have an agenda to accomplish. And they want to see Trump fail and Saudi Arabia and the US divided.

Why?

Turkey’s agenda.

Why hasn’t the media gone after Hillary over Benghazi the way they’ve gone rabid about this reporter?

So... Mohammed Bin Salman is suspected of ordering one of his own citizens to be killed in a foreign country without due process.

Can the WaPo tell us how this is any different than what happened when Obama had Anwar al-Awlaki killed in Yemen?

Quick, every terrorist and invader (redundant) needs to write one article for a news outlet so they’re doubly protected.

The propoganda that this guy was a “WaPo Journalist” seems important.

WaPo has been described as the mouthpiece of the CIA and deep state, so as far as Americans are concerned, one violent Saudi faction killing another player in their tribal politics isn’t the important thing, but rather, how this fits into our own devious politics and factions of Washington DC.

Some subset of the CIA, possibly including their director, is a major element of the Deep State coup against the duly-elected President of the United States. That element is leaking to hurt Trump - and they probably don’t even care whether the leaks are true, so long as they are harmful.

In a sane world, they would weigh the value of Saudi Arabia as a weak ally against the cost of a hostile Saudi government in their decisions on whether to use that lever in attacking Trump. There is nothing sane in the anti-Trump movement, They would happily see the world burn just to blame the devastation on the best president since Reagan.

Khashoggi was a very bad dude. Lots of terrorist ties. I don’t know how he got into the U.S. Oh wait; Obama.
This was just the Saudi version of a drone strike.
The Turkish leader is also a very bad dude. The more we piss him off the better I like it. Current Saudi leader is a good friend of the U.S.

Why hasn’t the media gone after Hillary over Benghazi the way they’ve gone rabid about this reporter?

Or after Obama when he sent $2 billion in U.S. taxpayer cash in wooden pallets to the "death to America" screaming jihadis in Iran. If Trump did that, impeachment proceedings would've commenced the very next day.

But when a Muslim Brotherhood gangster gets killed by House of Saud gangsters in Turkey and Trump basically says that it doesn't concern us and that there's no proof anyway (both entirely true), the outrage from both the media and politicos is off the charts.

"This is not who we are!" (I despise that phrase) cry the virtue signaling #NeverTrumpers. ....as if WE were the murderers.

Islamic gangsters of all stripes have been killing each other for....ever. Unless it impacts us directly (which this case clearly doesn't), then it's none of our business. Trump is right, again.

The Deep State and their media propagandist whores will be after the President about something else within ....the hour.

Khashoggi was probably a dual agent. He was employed once by al Talal who lost 1/2 of his fortune when captive by MBS (rumor was it was 58 billion loss).

Turkey has Muslim Brotherhood leaders protected in Turkey. If he got between the SA and MB elements, they might have killed him. If he betrayed MBS to the MB, SA might have killed him.

So far? No body.

Turkey has audio recordings? Say they have shared them with US and other nations. None of them admit getting the recordings, only that they listened to them. Without the audio forensics I am skeptical of anything Turkish MiT has to say.

Thanks.

The ME is a very complex and brutal world.

There are powers, players and people who are just caught up in it.

Security is fleeting.

An in the midst of all that, I know some very good people.

The media should have. Derr Hildebeast is an evil force.

She created great suffering for millions with her arrogance and meddling in the ME.

It cost us the lives of some very good Americans in Benghazi. Abandoned because of an election.

The Witch of Benghazi should have been held accountable for that. And much more.
