As always, I do my best to post facts on topics that I both know about and understand and stay away from topics I don't know much about...unless it is to ask a question.
The rest of the world isn’t like the US, different cultures and circumstances.

Does not mean I have to approve the actions of a Pinochet or his apologists here. Since when did this great Conservative site start to accept the ideas of cultural relativism? Dictators and cultural relativism...not why I joined FR in 2000. I have been accused of being a lib troll from time to time and I make no secret of my NY Democratic roots, but when I came here individual liberty, smaller federal govt , adherence to the Constitution were much more than words to the Freepers. They were the reasons we were here.
Would you rather Chile fallen to the Communists and with it, Soviet domination?
The only alternative to his actions was full communism in Chile with a much higher body count.
The United States form of government is not a democracy. It is a Constitutional Republic.

The opposite happened here. The 17th amendment was designed to give full control to large population centers. Moving to democratic government and socialism.
I agree. Passing the 17th amendment went against the foundational reasoning behind the US Constitution in the first place. It should be repealed if the US is to survive as a place of individual freedoms. Else, it will be destroyed by the ‘collective’.

The Republic is damaged when a political party (the dems) takes on an ideology that demands the destruction of the Republic as their own (commiescmism).
The Republic is destroyed when Good Men do nothing and allow the destructionists to run riot.
