Wasn’t it an SS Officer that tipped off the Danes to get the Jews out ASAP? (Good among evil too?) Most of the Danish Waffen SS were sent to the Eastern Front along with Norwegians, Belgians, Swedes, and Dutch, volunteers. Some of the units were the last to surrender to the Russians. They were despised by their countrymen and many never returned home. My guess the ranks of the French Foreign Legion had no shortage of volunteers nor did several dictatorships in South America. A most interesting post war era, the late 40’s.
