The U.S. and China have re-engaged in trade talks ahead of a meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G-20 summit in Argentina this week.

The meeting offers an "opportunity to break through" after progress toward a trade agreement stalled in recent months, according to White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow.

Trump is considering whether to put tariffs on another $267 billion in Chinese goods if the talks do not go well.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t communicating with foreign governments part of the Executive’s remit ?

Just remember, China is just as willing to let their people starve to death, as to cave to America.

“China is just as willing to let their people starve to death, as to cave to America”

Don’t think they are willing to see the social upheaval when their workers are let go because they will not be making any more crap for the Yankee dogs. Idle hands and starving peasants make good counter-revolutionaries.`

China has gone from “We will never negotiate...ever” to “Of course, we have always meant to negotiate, and now is a good time” in about 3 months.

It’s not the peasants that Xi needs to worry about. There’s a million new millionaires in China. They want the gravy train to keep rolling and have political power and wealth to use. Xi has consolidated so much power there is no one else to blame for their 40-50% market losses and the lowest GDP in 15 years.

I hope they don’t make a quick deal just to get it off the table. I support the trade war.

You don't know much about historical Communism. Read up on how many millions were killed in Russia and China by their own governments. Remember, the people are disarmed.

There are often communications with one’s opponent during a war.

Precisely, but with the woeful dumbing down of the education system at most levels, how many will see that headline and be able to think their way past the implicit attack on what is actually an inherent function of the Executive branch.

And not just that particular headline, but any of the other thousands of such that they're bombarded with weekly by the Enemedia.
