I believe the medical term for the male equivalent of a menstrual period is called a refractory period. This is the length of time it takes a man to achieve an erection capable of ejaculation of semen until the next time he can do that.

It varies from a few hours in young men to a few days (or more) in older men. Yeah, there were a few times (when I first got married) that they were as little as 2-3 hours apart. I can even think of a couple of times when it was pretty much the whole night. It isn't unheard of among married couples who actually love having kids almost as much as they enjoy conceiving them.
