When did we put Kissinger, Jarret or Rove there?
Oh boy. More democrat voters soon to be set free.
After a few more trillion in chuck n nancy deals, aftwe releasing violent criminals. Gosh, what a deal. And surely it wont be amnesty, right?
More democrats dreams coming true.. not surprising considering the legislation passed during this administration.
Pretty sure there will be “unintended consequences.”
Trump launches unprecedented reelection machine

The GOP is filled with people who want exactly the opposite of what the President wants on immigration. That, more than the Dems, is why it won’t get passed. You would need 50 hardcore’s on immigration reform and there are legitimately about 10. Maybe another 10 who could be convinced and coerced. There are 0 Democrats in that category. The problem isn’t the house or Trump. The probably is more broadly the GOPe in the Senate
Crime will go UP, not down.
Anything labeled “reform” is always bad news.
I’ve noticed that about almost every article about legislation. The authors are only interested in which politicians are winning and losing. They are never interested in whether the people win or lose.
My rule of thumb is that anything labeled “reform” screws us big time.
It lets violent criminals out on the streets early and will undoubtedly lead to crimes that wouldn’t have happened if they’d stayed put through their original sentence.
When that happens, there will be a rightful blame put on Trump (unfortunately) and Kushner (fortunately).
Seven paragraphs in and the writer still hasnt talked about the content of the bill - just the politics of the bill. Stupid author.
Some advocates say the prison reform could release 4,000 people currently serving long sentences, give elderly and terminally ill inmates a path home and invest tens of millions in re-entry programming.
WIN? Jailbreak bill hands Trump a “*victory*? If Democrats support it, it’s gotta be nefarious.
96% of federal inmates pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Thousands of “non-violent” criminals will become eligible for early release, and we will have no idea what crimes they actually committed.
49 “Yes” votes from Democrat Senators.
Legislation designed by Jared - who would have voted for Hillary if his father-in-law had not been running.
Legislation praised by the New York Times and the Washington Post.
Pathetic.
I completely agree.
Senator Lindsey Graham is running for president in 2020, in case anyone has not noticed.
I presume Graham voted “Yes” since Graham supported this Bill a couple months ago.
The bill only applies to early release for non-violent offenders. That will make for more room to house violent offenders. The federal prisons currently cost us taxpayers an average of $36,299.25 ($99.45 per day) to warehouse non-violent offenders.
That actually is untrue— https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/11/first-step-criminal-justice-reform-bill-whats-in-it/ —and even many “nonviolent” offenders are only nonviolent in that they took a plea deal for the lesser charges of what they committed.
How is letting folks out of jail sooner a big win?
How can it be a win when the Dems are all for it?
What about the Wall veto?
Oh joy! Criminals are set loose sooner...we are supposed to be happy about that? Win for the Dems...more of their voters go free IMO.
Big whoop....what about the Wall?
How are we supposed to call a bill supported by the Dems and RINO’s a victory?
