While speaking on the Senate floor on Saturday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) stated that the Senate will reconvene for its next scheduled session on Thursday, December 27th.

McConnell said, “So, Mr. President, here’s where we are. The Senate will next meet for a pro forma session on Monday, that’s the 24th. The next scheduled session will be on the 27th of December.”

He added that he is pleased that “productive discussions are continuing.” McConnell continued that there will be no votes on funding the government until a deal is reached that will pass the House and the Senate and be signed by the president.

After McConnell’s statement, the Senate adjourned.

Odd you should say that. It’s my exact thought. Shame he didn’t make it 2019. I miss them so much.

I don’t understand how PDJT has missed the opportunity to call out Pelosi and Schumuk and Obama’s walls and fences at their palaces. Also their security...hypocrites.

I don’t think he ended the session, he just adjourned it. The mitch ain’t going to leave Trump open to recess appointments. He is a conniving beotch not an idiot. Shame he can’t be both. I don’t think the left has awoken to RBG near tipping over yet. More Sens with r’ behind their names next Congress too.

Meh...

We don’t care, Mitch. Seeing how you don’t know how to bust balls and keep your caucus in line, there really isn’t much point.

The people most affected by a prolonged shutdown will be congressional democrats, RINOs, and and their staffers.

Eventually they'll have to explain to their constituents why they're against border security.

Their bullsh!t argument that a wall doesn't work and is a waste of money won't cut it.

I want the FED GOV shut down at least until February.

p.s. I am a Federal employee affected by the shutdown and need some time off from the insanity that is the FED GOV.

Why the pro forma session on Dec. 24?
Is this to prevent recess appointments by President Trump?
If so, what side is Mitch fighting on?????

This. This right fricking here.

These damn leftists have mansions surrounded by top security and walls. Probably moats or landmines - yet they advocate for policies that hurt ordinary people.

If the Congress was representing the interests of citizens instead of illegal aliens I would care. But as it sits, not so much. I'd just as soon build the wall and toss Pelosi/Schumer onto the other side. We the People accept the Pelosi/Schumer line in the sand for what it is -- a battle line. They are waging war against We the People who elected this POTUS. This is a good hill to die on. Please hold the line Mr. President. A civilian army has your back; give us a mission and send us forth.

Has Mitch ever been on the People's side? He's a republican, not a constitutional conservative representative in a free republic.

Dec. 24th Pro Forma Session. Definition:

A pro forma session is a short period of time when either the House or Senate is technically in legislative session but when no votes are held and no formal business is typically conducted. It is a Latin term meaning “in form only.”

Everyone should send Mitch an UGLY tie. The worst one they ever saw, as a token of their disgust and disapproval of his cowardly ways. And maybe send him some Neuticles, too. Or any sort of ball they have laying around the house.

They’ll end up doing a DACA for part of the wall deal. But that’s OK as any money for the wall will be a win for Trump and he’s already made it clear he will sign a DACA deal.
