GoFundMe campaign for Wall hits $15 million

A GoFundMe fundraising campaign to fund the president's border wall has raised nearly $16 million in just 6 days. More than 250,000 Americans have donated to the cause. The goal is to raise a billion dollars toward construction of the wall.

Meanwhile, a liberal transgender activist from Texas has started her own GoFundMe page, attempting to raise $100 million in order to purchase "Ladders to get over Trump's wall." That campaign is off to a slow start. Since Wednesday, the page has raised about $127,000.

The page is the brainchild of triple amputee Brian Kolfage.

Daily Mail:

The campaign description says in part: 'It's time we uphold our laws, and get this wall BUILT! It’s up to Americans to help out and pitch in to get this project rolling.'

On Wednesday Charlotte Clymer, a transgender woman and human rights activist from Texas, launched her own fundraising page in response, titled Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall.

It's description says: 'We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the US economy.

'Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved. Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values.

'And even though at a rate of $1.7million daily, it would take their fund about 35 years to raise the $21.7billion that Trump's own Department of Homeland Security says would be needed to build said wall, we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them.'

In just three days that page has raised more than $127,000 toward its $100million goal,

yes the hero running this go fund me needs to consider another pathway to the WALL. It could be getting true patriots to win in the next PRIMARY ELECTION CYCLE. 2020
Convincing donors that the right people in DC = WALL.
Then laying out a specific plan to the participants.
I do not believe the NWO machine will permit this to happen.

RE: $16,136,394 of $1.0B goal

Raised by 265,082 people in 6 days

_____________________________

That amounts to about $60 per person.

If the 63 million who voted for Trump each contributed $60, that would amount to $3.78 Billion !!

RE: but it does appear that using private funds in that way would have to be approved by Congress.

I have no faith that this will do anything other than create a big bank account.

Number one, if you give this money to the government it will disappear. Most to bureaucracy. That's what government does.

Number two, if you try to do it privately the government will say this is federal land, only the government can do this, blah, blah, blah.

See number one.

The reason why is because Mr. Moran unequivocally states - apparently without doing his homework - that the money cannot be used for the wall. It can be used for the wall- albeit with congressional approval. And we could get that approval with our current Republican majority in lame duck session.

The “legal aspects” remain unclear. Private citizens are allowed to raise money for the federal government, but they cannot specifically direct the government how to spend those funds.

A citizen can make a general donation to the U.S. government that is placed into a “Gifts to the United Sate” fund and be used for “general use,” according to the Treasury Department. Approval from Congress would be needed before the GoFundMe cash could be directed to the Department of Homeland Security.

Kolfage said his group is working with a law firm on several possible options to ensure sure the funds go toward the wall. Republican Mississippi Rep. Steve Palazzo, for example, introduced legislation that would allow for private funding of the border wall. The Border Bonds for America Act of 2018 would let citizens purchase revenue bonds to finance the wall’s construction.

Conversely, Congress would also have to approve of the "ladders" proposed by transgender woman Charlotte Clymer.

None of this was mentioned in Mr. Moran's article.
