My wife is a CA native. I’ve lived in CA 40 years. We bought a house in Idaho and are spending lots more time there. We really feel unwelcome in our native state.
The restrooms are in buildings that are closed, because the staff needed to open them are “non-essential” and affected by the shutdown. I’d guess that much of the trash is from overflowing trash receptacles at campgrounds, parking and dining areas. People are leaving their trash at the appropriate places but no one is picking it up. Yes, everyone should pack it out, but ….

Probably not being cleaned fast enuf. Public hazard after a while...with our population filled with hep a...norovirus...other feces transmittable diseases...stay outta san franfecesco for sure.
I suspect the toilets are full and no one is pumping them out.
Here in pacoima we have about 3 square miles of section 8 housing that is 100% illegal aliens, less than half have trash service. They throw all thier crap on the sidewalk and street until the city sends a crew to clean it up.

For most visitors to Yosemite, it would be “Drive it in, drive it out.”
Or “Carry it to the picnic table, carry it out.”
Is it cold outside? Do Californians poop in the woods? the streets? everywhere? It’s freezing outside fool!

I used to believe that the late Colin Fletcher literally “paved” the way to all this wilderness madness we are witnessing today. However, he respected the outdoors and would never have abused pur great natural wonders. But now I think the corporate suits took over the recreational industry just like the music industry. Sad really, especially if you remember how things once were.

Back in the mid-90s, I went to Sun-n-Fun, the spring Experimental Aircraft Association gathering in Lakeland, Florida. About 300,000 people at the airport on Sunday afternoon, all outside. All kinds of food to be had, with paper products and such.
At the end of the day, did not see a SINGLE piece of paper on the ground. Disconcerting to see 300,000 people and no evidence they had been walking around the planes.
Why not build the wall out of feces? No one would want to touch it let alone climb it.
Build the wall out of Yosemite trash then.
