Thanks to Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), a whole lot of people read my initial analysis of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez soak-the-rich tax proposal. Some came away confused as to my point, and perhaps Scalises as well, when it comes to proposals such as these. The problem isnt that the policy would take away 70% of your income to fund leftist fantasy programs, as Scalise quipped offhandedly in tweeting out my post. Its that the tax itself is a leftist fantasy program, especially as a pay-for to support Ocasio-Cortez Green New Deal.

Americans are Taxed Enough Already.
If they tax me any higher I sell my business and retire. Taxes are too high as it is.
This female organism knows nothing. Zilch. But she’s right about everything, because she’s a good person.
I get it. Okay.
How Medicare for All Could Become the Leading Cause of Death in America.

...The top three leading causes of death in the US are heart disease (614,348), cancer (591,699), and seeking medical treatment. Yes, you read that correctly. According to a 2016 study by Johns Hopkins, medical errors contribute to the deaths of more than 250,000 Americans annually, which places it as the third leading cause of death in the US.
Other estimates have actually placed those numbers even higher at around 440,000 annual deaths because errors by health care providers are not included on death certificates.
For example; hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) contribute to the deaths of nearly 100,000 people annually, leaving almost two million of the total afflicted population requiring treatments that cost over $25 billion a year. These costs could be passed along to taxpayers under Medicare for All, instead of private insurers and employers, as they are now.
5 months ago nobody ever heard of this chick.
now her name is plastered all over the noos.
Why?
Imagine the look on her socialist face when she gets her first paycheck and she realizes how much tax that was withheld and ow much she will pay.
Every Day.
Maybe if we got rid of some of the millions of illegals getting hand-outs and benefits we could begin to tidy up our financial affairs better.
There you go again. Using numbers and facts instead of emotions.
If one examines European medical systems and medical insurance, the first thing one notices is not how they pay for things, which actually does vary quite a lot, but how cheap everything is. The US actually has a very European system already.
The truly weird thing about the US medical care industry is not how it is paid for, which is mainly through government systems (Medicare, Medicaid, State systems, VA, etc.) or through government employer mandates (as with France for one), but how incredibly expensive it is.
The US could pay for an entire Canadian style medical industry just with the money it already collects for Medicare alone. That on a per-capita, cost-adjusted basis. That’s one factoid few have picked up on.
Or it could pay for TWO British style NHS systems (the British NHS is really, really cheap and basic). Or a German, French, Australian or any other system. Without increasing taxes or extending demands on employers.
The real American problem is ridiculous cost inflation.
RE: As AOC has said facts are not important being “moral” is what is important.
Some questions — How is ignoring facts moral?
What kind of morality is she referring to ?
One reason is that Republicans and conservatives keep responding to her. Do you see us jumping up and down every time Sheila Jackson-Lee says something stupid? We’d be jumping up and down every day.
So why are we responding to this chick? She has no real power, and is just a gadfly in reality. Ignore her.
I think democrat congress people need everything in their salary that exceeds the national average confiscated to pay the premiums on Obamacare.
“Sandy”’. Doesn’t know who she is, let alone what she truly believes!
With all this capitalism, the USA remains the pioneer of much of the best health care in the world.
“The news” has entranced much of the right. Your implication is right — to choose not to rage over it would be the wisest move of all.
