I don't think Bernie Madoff dines there.
They were on mine.
No longer.
After the last so-so meal I had there, I now have good reason to never go back.
Footnote: Red Lobster is now owned by Golden Gate Capital, who also owns Bob Evans restaurants & Eddie Bauer.
I also had a ‘so so’ meal there. I believe it was 1986. Hadn’t tried again.
I think it was today or yesterday he said the name of their leader. I think it was the same person who led the Russia influence hoax on the Alabama Roy Moore campaign.
Here is more information:
Democratic operatives, backed by a liberal billionaire and facilitated by a former Obama official, created thousands of fake Russian accounts to give an impression the Russian government was supporting Alabama Republican Roy Moore in last years election against now-Sen. Doug Jones.
The secret project, which had a budget of just $100,000 and was carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was revealed after the New York Times obtained an internal report detailing the efforts.
We orchestrated an elaborate false flag operation that planted the idea that the Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet, the internal report said. It also took credit for radicalizing Democrats with a Russian bot scandal after experimenting with many of the tactics now understood to have influenced the 2016 elections.
Jones said Thursday he is “outraged” over the report and wants a federal investigation over the project.
“I’d like to see the Federal Election Commission and the Justice Department look at this to see if there were any laws being violated and, if there were, prosecute those responsible,” he said. “These authorities need to use this example right now to start setting the course for the future to let people know that this is not acceptable in the United States of America.”
One participant in the project reportedly was Jonathon Morgan, the chief executive of New Knowledge, a firm that wrote a report released by the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this week about Russias social media operations in the 2016 election and its efforts to hurt Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump.
He reportedly contacted Renée DiResta, who later joined his company and became the leading author of the report about the Russian interference efforts for the firm, asking for suggestions of online tactics that are worth testing.
In a statement on Twitter, he denied the project was aimed at influencing the election, which the Democrat won by 22,000 votes. “I did not participate in any campaign to influence the public,” he wrote, saying the project goals weren’t about supporting the Jones campaign.
In years past, a significant percentage of Red Lobster customers were Black.
It might be a prudent business decision.
I would boycott Red Lobster, but it has been years since I last darkened the door of one of their restaurants.
They told people who call to mention the ad.
Let's see what the mob and Disney do next.
Getting involved in politics seems like a very poor strategy. Maybe they can get together with Dicks sporting goods and increase their market share with urban hipsters. Or just license their biscuit recipe and use their name on frozen seafood dinners.
I gave it one more try, as it was one of the only restaurants open this Thanksgiving. The last time was on my b-day about 10 years ago.
How a restaurant can screw up a Captain’s Platter comprised entirely of fried food is beyond me, but they certainly did 10 years ago. This year’s meal was just so-so, plus I reacted to the food:
I’ve since found out that they use oil of rape in their biscuits and other dishes (they don’t post ingredients). So much for asking staff.
Off my list.
Not much is gonna happen when we refers to others. Hypothetical others at that. Youve got assignments for the Whizes and the Beagles. Kick out the jams!
A pancake house selling seafood that smells like a funky old trawler...
Thanky, but no.
I’ve eaten in Red Lobster restaurants for 30+ years. That just came to an end.
I’ve been to Red Lobster twice; once about 25 years ago, and again about 5 years ago. It was night and day; apparently in the intervening years it became “upscale dining” for urban folk (though it wasn’t in an urban area), and the food and service both sucked. Can’t boycott it if I don’t go anyway...
Does anyone have a list of the companies I will not support?
I think Red (communist) Lobster will take a mortal wound for this offense. Their customers ae not homeless, they have jobs and they hate the communist push from the left.
Re: Golden Gate Capital owns Eddie Bauer
I live a few blocks away from Eddie Bauer’s corporate H.Q. and their flagship mall store.
Something bad happened to Eddie Bauer’s clothing line a few years ago.
They used to have great wool socks, great black cotton tee shirts (long sleeves and short), great plaid shirts, and great windbreakers and light winter jackets.
All that classic stuff is gone now.
They moved from their original very beautiful clothing-centric small store location into a larger brutally austere space that mostly sells heavy winter coats and more “contemporary” clothing.
Breaks my heart every time I walk by it.
Just cancelled our trip to Red Lobster. I thought they had guts, but they’re led by a bunch of little cowardly shrimps.
According to Darden Inc, they still own Fred Slobster, as well as Olive Garden, Longhorn Steak House, Chedders and something called Eddie Vs. In all, about 10 chains are owned by Darden. Like many here, I wont eat at a Red Lobster since I can get higher quality at a lower price elsewhere.
