Make no doubt about it, the end game here is to force Steve King to resign. As far as the GOP establishment is concerned, he shouldn't have won to begin with. They wrote that seat off and pulled their support.
McCarthy removed a Congressman from Iowa from the Agriculture Committee. Idiot.
And, with any luck, he'll have a more powerful position waiting for him in the Executive Branch by Monday. Something that lets him tell McCarthy and McConnell to McScrew Off!
Yes, I agree. They hurt individuals to cow an entire institution. They act like gangsters who have an extortion racket going....support the wall and we will call down the New York Times on you!
President Trump uses #13 right back. Very effectively. CNN’s Jim Accosta of the WH press corps is an example. The entire press corps now detests Accosta as a microphone grabber.
Thanks yesthatjallen.
“Same knee-jerk reaction when NRO ousted Derbyshire.”
Strangely, EVERYthing Derbyshire wrote in that article had been previously said to me by black acquaintances.
You are correct. Thank you for your comment.
I read the transcript and he was simply defending the study and referencing of western civilization. He was not advocating any racist nonsense—no one does and no such thought would cross his mind. He is being made an example of—this by the R party’s power brokers who want to restart the purging of non-leftists from the party. King is being used here. His constituents are being punished, too.
The R party power brokers are begging to be loved by CNN, the NYT, and the W Post. They are up to their old strategy. They will fail.
Practically, this is a gift horse for the congressman. With Democrats ramrodding all committees, conservative members will barely have a chance to be heard. And look at all the time he will save by being on no committees. He can channel this time into more productive activities.
King is the idiot for asking how white supremacist became offensive if that is what he actually asked. Did he say something different?
As to white nationalist, why is color or lack thereof even mentioned in concert with being patriotic?
If Republicans only got as upset about the crimes committed by the DOJ, FBI and Hillary Clinton, Trump might be able to drain the swamp.
It must be the BIG cocktail bashes are going to start as soon as the Dems return from whooping it up with all the rich lobbyists in San Juan. Can't not get invited to those simply maahvelous paahtees, now, can we...?
Isn't that what King said or is there some difference between your words and his?
In a 56 minute interview [with the New York Times], we discussed the changing use of language in political discourse. We discussed the worn out label racist and my observation that other slanderous labels have been increasingly assigned to Conservatives by the Left, who injected into our current political dialog such terms as Nazi, Fascist. "White Nationalist, White Supremacist,- Western Civilization, how did THAT language become offensive?"
Steve King to the New York Times:
White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization how did that language become offensive? Mr. King said. Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/10/us/politics/steve-king-trump-immigration-wall.html
Steve King has not disputed the accuracy of the quotes. He said that the interview was not taped, which at least means that he did not tape it.
That was Peter King of New York not Steve King of Iowa.
taped > recorded
Steve King has not disputed the accuracy of the quotes. He said that the interview was not taped, which at least means that he did not tape it.
Amen to that!
Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will get me fired.
Flaming Conservative: He most certainly HAS disputed it.
Not that I have heard. For reference to the specific quote, listen to King from about 2:20.

He wants the quote to be interpreted in a larger context, but he did not say that he was misquoted. He would certainly have brought that up.
Im into race too
Ever lived anywhere as a minority white?
