It's not even the message itself that is the real problem. Nobody I know enjoys being lectured as a customer.

With rare exceptions, a Gillette ad that involves anything other than razors and shaving is likely to be a disaster.

To further clarify, I think the “message” IS the problem because it’s slanted. It’s a broad-brush. It’s almost like claiming every woman is Susan Smith.

This is the part I’m agreeing with. You provide a service or product for your customer. You don’t lecture them, totally agree.
