British Newspaper Publishes Massive Apology to Melania Trump; Will Pay First Lady ‘Substantial Damages’ and Legal Costs

The British newspaper The Telegraph published a massive apology Saturday to First Lady Melania Trump regarding an article published January 19 that began with the admission, “we have been asked to make clear that the article contained a number of false statements which we accept should not have been published” and concluded with a promise to pay “substantial damages” and legal costs. “We apologise unreservedly to The First Lady and her family for any embarrassment caused by our publication of these allegations. As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs.”

The Telegraph apologized for numerous false statements about Melania and her family. The full text of the apology:

Following last Saturday’s (Jan 19) Telegraph magazine cover story “The mystery of Melania”, we have been asked to make clear that the article contained a number of false statements which we accept should not have been published. Mrs Trump’s father was not a fearsome presence and did not control the family. Mrs Trump did not leave her Design and Architecture course at University relating to the completion of an exam, as alleged in the article, but rather because she wanted to pursue a successful career as a professional model. Mrs Trump was not struggling in her modelling career before she met Mr Trump, and she did not advance in her career due to the assistance of Mr Trump.

We accept that Mrs Trump was a successful professional model in her own right before she met her husband and obtained her own modelling work without his assistance. Mrs Trump met Mr Trump in 1998, not in 1996 as stated in the article. The article also wrongly claimed that Mrs Trump’s mother, father and sister relocated to New York in 2005 to live in buildings owned by Mr Trump. They did not. The claim that Mrs Trump cried on election night is also false.

We apologise unreservedly to The First Lady and her family for any embarrassment caused by our publication of these allegations. As a mark of our regret we have agreed to pay Mrs Trump substantial damages as well as her legal costs.

I remember when The Daily Telegraph ( now called The Telegraph) was reliably conservative back when Margaret Tatcher was Prime Minister. I used to read it every day when I lived in the UK. Now they are peddling anti Trump tabloid trash?

It’s just a rip-off of this previous article:

The Telegraph is a reliable supporter of the UK Conservative Party.

Donald Trump has zero support in the UK Conservative Party, and in fact the Conservative UK government conspired with Obama to prevent Trump’s election.

So there is no contradiction as you suggested in your post.

Yeah. The previous article(which I didn’t see beforehand), was from the culprits themselves, The Telegraph.

Libel laws mean something in Great Britain, not so much in the US.

Far more scurrilous things are published about public figures in this country than would ever be allowed in most other English-speaking countries.

But nobody ever said the press corps in any country was “fair”.

After that, read a book on Hara Kiri, and try it out.

You are probably right. But then the Conservative Party under David Cameron was like a million miles from The Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher.

I still remember this famous headline from The Sun from back in the day:

We need serious libel laws reform in this country. It'd put fake news CNN out of business in next to no time. Little chance of that passing when the GOPe and Queen Nancy are against it.

Not really.

They hated the "grocer's daughter", a/k/a "Rambo Reagan's Pet Poodle", and they undermined her constantly until they could get rid of her.

Good for Melania. Good for us all. The media needs to be sued every single time their falsehoods are made, especially when damages occur.

48 reasons not to get a boob job.

Reason 47: "Boob jobs are like stage makeup: they look good at a distance. They look better on you from 50 feet than from 10 feet, better from 10 feet than from one foot, better in a photograph or video than in real life, and better with more clothing than they do with less. They're at their worst when the distance is most intimate"

Well she still served as Prime Minister for nearly 12 years’ crushed the coal miners union under Arthur Scargill, privatized British Gas, British Telecom etc( I bought shares in both) and fundamentally changed so many aspects of how the government works in Britain. President Trump could learn a thing or two about how to fight the far left crazies from Margaret Thatcher.

More of this and faster. So sick of leftists making up their own narratives and their own history (articles, movies, tv programs, etc.).

At the rate she is going and winning lawsuits against a corrupt media, Melania can fund the wall herself! Then in essence, the media has actually paid for the wall! LOL
