Ok, this is an older article, but I didn't see it when I searched for it.

But it is ok to tell this lie to get elected to public office where the payoff is much greater.

He should have bought himself a toy drum. Then all of the media would have been on his side.

In this day and age I can see how a 214 can be forged. But the VA goes and gets personnel records from the NPRC to verify the 214 he gives them and service treatment records the military kept on him. Apparently the VA did not do that.
The VA maintains what’s called a C-File on each vet. Mine is over 1700 pages.

https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/man-who-lied-about-being-combat-veteran-sentenced-to-federal-prison/1611587726 From the above link, the vet-valor thief was sentenced to a whole 6 months.
Sheesh, 6 months?
6 years would be closer to my recommendation (plus full restitution and a whole lotta community work cleaning latrines in VA hospitals.)

It should have been easy enough for someone to verify his claim.
Don’t they check to make sure the person is legit?

In a world where Bruce Jenner can be Caitlyn, and girls can be boys, and whites can become blacks and or Native Americans, where is the dichotomy in Non-veterans becoming veterans?
