Getting a refund means you gave the gubmit a free loan.
Free loan is right! Be thankful they paid it back and didn’t stiff you.
You can always find some illegals a rent a kid or two,or three....that’s how they do it in the South valley! Get you some of that not earned income credit before all of it heads South across the border in remittances!
Exactly. I don't get why people get excited about losing interest on their own money every year. Of course interest rates for the average schmoe's savings account being somewhere between .01% and .08% it is literally chump change.
Still, why not keep your own money up front and invest?

Most people just don’t get that getting a big refund is not a good thing. In fact, I know many who intentionally withhold more than necessary just so they can get a bigger refund. I try to explain it like this: you go grocery shopping every week and spend day $150. The store makes you pay $150 for those groceries. I am going to open a store where you pay $250 a week for those same groceries. At the end of the year, I’ll send you a check for $5200. Would you rather go to my store or stay with your old one. Usually that gets the point across.
Exactly. A refund just means that you foolishly gave the government a free loan. How much you loan the government is irrelevant. The only relevant number is total tax owed.
I only let them have that money in my younger years when I wasn’t too good at stashing away money for vacations.
I have NOT had a PAID vacation since about 1980, so no more ‘refunds’.
