Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray, ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued the following statement on Senator McConnell’s announcement of a show vote on anti-abortion legislation leading medical organizations have vocally opposed.
“This bill is unnecessary, harmful, and would put Vice President Pence and Republicans in Congress right where they don’t belong: in between a woman and her health care provider as she is making deeply personal health decisions. As leading medical groups have repeatedly said, this politically-driven legislation should never become law—and Democrats are going to stand with women, doctors, nurses, and everyone who truly cares about women’s health and rights to make absolutely sure it doesn’t.”
S.311 - Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
This Act may be cited as the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act”.
Congress finds the following:
(1) If an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, the infant is a legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States, and entitled to all the protections of such laws.
(2) Any infant born alive after an abortion or within a hospital, clinic, or other facility has the same claim to the protection of the law that would arise for any newborn, or for any person who comes to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for screening and treatment or otherwise becomes a patient within its care.
This from the people who tried to take over the entire health care system, including death panels who decided which women went on breathing.

Take a look at the “Leading Medical Organizations” that signed the letter that Patty Murray is waving around in support of her indefensible position...sounds like a bunch of abortion advocates to me, not unbiased medical organizations like she is implying!

Their talking points:
Allow an “up or down” vote: Do not block the Born-Alive Abortion-Survivors Protection Act.
Allow at minimum to those “few” babies, in such “rare” circumstances the chance to live and be adopted if the mother is unable or unwilling. Thousands of families are ready, willing, and able to adopt a child.
Babies born alive deserve our protection; anything short of that is infanticide.
Speak on behalf of ALL your constituents, not just those on the extreme who believe that it is okay to kill a baby once the child is born, which is infanticide.
Infanticide is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of this nation.
