The opening and closing lines cite John Wayne: “... or come in guns blazing just like old John Wayne...”; “... or go out guns blazing just like old John Wayne.”
Jennifer Wayne, the high voice in the trio’s tight harmony, is John Wayne’s granddaughter. She is very tall, and her cheekbones and jawline are like a very young Duke (c. 1935) from a half-side angle - when he was lean and hungry.
I hope she will not submit to any pressure to disavow him. Modern Country has become very infected with political correctness.
