On Sunday, shared a video of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) at SXSW, talking about about President Reagan's legacy and how he "pitted" whites against browns and blacks.
"And one perfect example – a perfect example – of how special interests and the powerful have pitted white working class Americans against brown and black working Americans in order to just screw over all working class Americans is Reaganism in the '80s when you started talking about 'welfare queens,'" Ocasio-Cortez said during an interview at the conference. "So you think about this image, 'welfare queens,' and what he [Reagan] was really trying to talk about was – he was painting this photo, he's like painting this really resentful vision of essentially black women who were doing nothing that were sucks on our country, right? And it's the whole tragedy of these comments type thinking where it's like because these one specific group of people that you were already kind of subconsciously prime to resent, you give them a different reason, that's not explicit racism, but still rooted in racist caricature, it gives people a logical, a "logical" reason to say, 'Oh, yeah, no. Toss out the whole safety net.'"
New York Times best selling author Craig Shirley has written numerous books on President Ronald Reagan and his presidency. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Reagan Ranch and is considered one of the best Reagan historians out there. Shirley decided to challenge Ocasio-Cortez on her statements about the Gipper by providing facts about Reagan and his presidency:

AOC replied to Shirley but her response was a bit of a head scratcher. Apparently "reading different" books means knowing absolutely no history on a president and making blanket statements about the guy and his impact on America.

AOC is focusing too much on the actual word "book" in this instance. Shirley isn't talking about just books. He's referring to news articles as well. He's saying that if she wants to make these kind of statements about a president – especially ones that are extremely divisive – they would be rooted in fact.
Before you try to pit all of America's problems on one man, please, AOC, do your research. It would do you and your progressive followers some good.

Democrats organized and relentlessly pushed to end institutionalization of the mentally ill, who were then forced on to the streets. These poor souls were deemed to be spiritual beings who deserved autonomy and freedom. It was deemed wrong to *force* these folks, many of them schizophrenics, to continue taking their medication, resulting in the “explosion of homelessness”.
As for Iran Contra and the crack epidemic, maybe we should ask the CIA? What sort of control did they exert within the Reagan Administration, considering that GHW Bush was his VP, successfully put in place by the Deep State to keep Reagan in line?
This is what comes from the notion that each person "has their own truth". It doesn't really matter what the historical records show. She has her own opinion of Reagan. Therefore she wins the argument.

AOC knows what she knows. She is impervious to “schooling” about anything.
That statement demonstrates that "Occasionally Cogent" is quite an accurate moniker. First, Bauman insinuated nothing. She quite clearly STATED that OC never read any. However, it is indeed quite possible that the utterly useless "education" OC received never gave a positive analysis of Reagan's life. That says as much about the liberal teaching and media professions as it does about OC's reaction to them. If a liberal doesn't say it, it didn't happen, and anything a liberal does say, can't be disputed.

No matter how accurately the misrepresentations of AO-C are targeted, and yes, even demolished, she deflects and subtly changes the subject, never admitting to a mistaken conclusion on her part, but always pushing to steal valor from another with whom she shares no common values or principles.
This may play well with her compatriots, but again, they also have little in common with what has historically been regarded as the American Dream, a great experiment that utilizes the powerful wealth generation system known as capitalism with the application of the law code of Moses, the Ten Commandments, with the benevolent blessing of Christ, the Golden Rule.
The youth of our country has been sadly and greatly miseducated in the realities of today’s world, ignoring both history and the study of the “hard” sciences, opting instead for some vague misappropriation of the term “humanities”, an idealization of mankind as some sort of self-sufficient entity without need of moral guidance.
