U.S. sportswear maker Nike was hit with a 12.5 million euro ($14.14 million) fine Monday for blocking cross-border sales of soccer merchandise of some of Europe's best-known clubs, the latest EU sanction against such restrictions.

The European Commission said Nike's illegal practices occurred between 2004 to 2017 and related to licensed merchandise for FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus, Inter Milan, AS Roma and the French Football Federation.

The European Union case focused on Nike's role as a licensor for making and distributing licensed merchandise featuring a soccer club's brands and not its own trademarks.

The sanction came after a two-year investigation triggered by a sector inquiry into e-commerce in the 28-country bloc. The EU wants to boost online trade and economic growth.

Speaking of which has anybody here seen an actual Kaepernick ad? I haven’t seen one since it was first announced. It’s like Nike just quietly buried it once they realized how much it pissed people off.

Wow. Sucks for Nike. First they are involved with CPL in a 20 million dollar extortion scandal. Now this.

The same day it was reported that creepy porn lawyer was trying to extort even more to keep from having a press conference about Nike. I don’t believe in coincidences.

Yeah, I was actually wondering if Avenatti tipped off the Euro-cops.

Wonder if this is part of the Avanatti blackmail scheme?

Can’t decide who I hate more. CPL. Or Nike.

Nike. Or CPL.

Decisions, decisions...

Imagine if they actually moved their enterprise back to the US. None of this would have happened. Well, Trump offered.

I’m not sure it’s necessary to pick a front-runner :).

Me too. Current pair is 8 years old and I still use the previous pair (12 yo) for yard and garage duty. Big 5 has good sales on them. At least they used to last time I looked.
