President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani changed course late Friday, declaring he would no longer go on a planned trip to Ukraine to press for an investigation into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Giuliani announced the decision Friday night during an appearance on Fox News, saying "I'm not gonna go," and blaming Democrats for trying to “spin” the trip.
"I think I'm walking into a group of people that are enemies of the President, in some cases enemies of the United States and, in one case, an already convicted person who has been found to be involved in assisting the Democrats with the 2016 election," Giuliani said, without clarifying to whom he was referring.
The news came hours after Trump told Politico in an interview that he planned to speak with Giuliani about his trip and the investigation.
“I will speak to him about it before he leaves. I’m just curious about that,” he told the outlet, saying that he has “not spoken to him at any great length” about his attorney's trip.
Giuliani first revealed his plans to travel to Ukraine in an interview with The New York Times on Thursday. The president's lawyer said he hoped to meet in the nation's capital, Kiev, to ask the country's president-elect to pursue inquiries that could yield new information about the origin of the Russia investigation and former Vice President Biden's past influence in the country.

And if you're going to do opposition research and you make public comments about your plan to do opposition research don't change your mind once your opposition publicly questions and criticizes your motives.

Certainly possible. Rudy’s reason for backing out sounds a bit too extreme. There are certainly people in Ukraine’s government he well knows have been trying to get this information into hands here.

Bingo. A little Fake News ( trip ) to get the Fake News to cover it and complain without realizing they are educating people on what happened and how Ole Joe is just another what’s in it for me critter.
Giuliani is way past his prime. He blabs quite a bit but thus far has done virtually nothing concrete to help Trump. Remember when Giuliani was Mayor of NYC, before 9/11 he was very pro choice and very pro gay. He did have effective police policies ( which were not hard to notice after the Dinkins Administration). However his reputation is largely a result of his being there during and after 9/11.
He accomplished what he needed to accomplish. People now know about Biden and his son AND the table has been set for the Ukraine to go after corruption without fear.
Rudy had no intention of ever going and the president was in on it as well. They were trolling the democrats and their stooges in the media. My my, what has the media been screaming about for two days now, the Clinton/Biden corruption in the Ukraine. The Biden/Clinton Ukrainian corruption narrative has been embedded. Masterful job by Rudy. Watch the interview where Rudy announces he’s not going, big ole sh!t eating grin throughout.
By making an announcement of his plans he gave Democrats the means to write the narrative; Giuliani is doing 'opposition' research with a foreign government.
There was no reason to jump up and down and wave his arms.
He could have done this quietly behind the scenes.
Of course Democrats would criticize this later but get in and get out with the intel. Also, now that everyone has a heads up, the opposition can plant fake intel which can be discredited later to make Giuliani look like a fool which will only look bad fro Trump.
As for 'can I guess why?', no. What do you know about the state department not wanting to follow up on Biden?

Someone posted that Trump, Giuliani, and Barr worked together to clean out major organized crime in NYC — in the ‘80s, I think. They have a long history together, and there’s probably a deep loyalty between them. Also, maybe plans going on behind the scenes that we might learn about some day.
He never had any intention of actually going. This was always a shrewd ploy to force the media to report on the Biden corruption by making them and the Dems have the vapors over a campaign seeking a dossier from Ukrainians.
Has Rudy done anything to help Trump so far that has actually worked?

Ukraine has information on officials who were working to aid Hillary Clinton’s campaign. That’s what our DNC Media wants to keep all that information suppressed.
Then there’s Joe Biden’s son who was a board member getting $50,000 a month from a gas oligarch. Just a coincidence.
