By the end of your first or second job fresh out of college, the University you attended should be the last entry of your resume where it should remain for the next 10 years.

Professional Certifications, not code camp stuff like MS xyz certifications, should appear second to last.

After 10 years the college and major you earned should disappear from your resume altogether because it is no longer relevant nor is it indicative of your acquired abilities for future endeavors

Ivy league Alumni with few exceptions go in the circular file!

Basing scores on “skin privilege “ is nothing short of racist

So the poor white boy who comes from Appalachia whose father died when the boy was 13 gets booted for the black kid whose mommy works for a large city government.

Perhaps a modest proposal of giving everybody a 1500. If somebody makes a 1600 they should take off a hundred to be fair.

That, I am pretty sure, is an extra 300 points.

One of my daughters had the same thing happen when she only took the ACT. In the end though, she transferred into the school from our Community College anyways for her last 2 years and saved about $50K in doing so.

Why would people of the West embrace mediocrity? There is a reason the US was, at one time, the greatest country the world had/has ever known but now we are just crapping all over that idea.

I always need to remember that things happen for a reason and usually for the better. At the time though it is very difficult to believe that it will all work out.

I'm glad it worked out for your daughters, My son had his heart set on a particular college. He took only the ACT and was rejected. His scores and transcripts were more than enough to be admitted but the school has for years only admitted people on the basis of SAT scores inspite of what they say in their admissions catalog.

I won't go into my opinions about the role of alumni charitable gifts role in the admissions process but the whole process has been corrupted for decades.

“They are trying to give colleges cover for racial preferences. It’s especially outrageous that they will report the “adversity score” to colleges but not to students. The Trump administration should demand that any “adversity score” also be disclosed to applicants.”

Cloward-Piven. The left is trying to overload the education system with unfit students who cannot make loan payments. This way the taxpayer has to pick up the tab.

"...Just having potential employees write a five-sentence paragraph can tell you a lot.."

-----------------

Indeed it does.

I used to belong to a private web forum where the owner required those who wanted to join to write a short explanation of why they wished to join. It was a real eye opener for him to receive paragraphs without a single coherent sentence. A large majority of the world populace are challenged to pen a well written description of anything without the aid of smilies and emoticons!

Go ahead, keep coddling these Snowflakes until they are totally useless.

The Left is going to ruin a whole generation and the parents should be outraged, but they are busy texting. SHHHH.

Just setting up more students for failure.

I remember my mean school district from 1952.

My 1st grade class had a row of boys that were being given the awesome privilege of repeating 1st grade.

Apparently, they were so awesome, 2nd grade needed an extra year just to get ready for their awesomeness.

The next door neighbors 12th grader is a genius. He missed one question on the math portion of the SAT test and he’s got colleges from all over offering scholarships. I think he wants to be a physicist. Regular kid, runs on the track team, Mows my yard in the summer, dresses nice, doesn’t really want to drive and he’s family oriented, polite too!

I’m proud to say that young man is a friend of mine. And, despite all of the system’s shortcomings he’s making the system work for him.

Why bother with the test, just give the adversity score.

No, that was on the special scale where you get extra points because of your privilege.

One potential solution is relatively simple. EVERYONE self identify as a minority. My son took the SAT three times. All scores fairly consistent. On one he listed his race as other. We were inundated with catalogs, letters begging him to consider every Ivy League school in the country. Johns Hopkins, MIT etc. His score was 1320. A nice score but not off the charts impressive. It was ONLY because he was a self described minority that a 1320 score induced NYU to spend hundreds of dollars in mailings to our home for months on end.

So. When your child is born declare them an ambiguous minority.
