Sanders: If baseball players make millions, teachers deserve raise
MSN ^ | 5/19/19 | Arthur Weinstein

If Bernie Sanders were an MLB general manager, he would probably be the type who chases bargain players rather than signing free agents to mega contracts.

The presidential contender posted a video on his Twitter account Saturday showing him at a campaign stop talking about raising pay for school teachers. And he used baseball salaries to make his point.

"If we are a nation that can provide contracts to baseball players for hundreds of millions of dollars, don't tell me we cannot pay teachers in this country the kinds of wages and salaries they deserve," Sanders said.

I'm pretty sure he made this statement from his third mansion. Bernster, baseball players produce things that people want to see. Teachers, on the other hand...

Teachers can barely follow the simple scripts written for them by equally incompetent administrators. They cry about their salaries and work a part time seasonal job for full time wages. They could all be replaced by Indian telemarketers and the World would be a better place. Put the kids in a locked carrell with a headset and a screen and if they want to learn they can. if not they can sleep and go home at 3pm. If they destroy their carrell they can’t come back - ever. No discipline problems.

Let’s just pay everyone millions of dollars every year. There, that solves everything. That makes me smart, you know, a socialist.

In many inner city schools, teachers should be replaced by corrections officers.

Sanders does not understand simple economics. It’s a lot easier to become a teacher than a Major League Baseball player. Sanders wants to repeal the law of supply and demand.

If Communists become millionaires and billionaires you can’t believe a word of the politics they espouse for the put upon common man.

Teachers do not entertain and thrill large crowds with observable extraordinary feats of skill. Athletes are entertainers more like film stars and dancers, etc.

Furthermore, sports that people really want to see is private enterprise and paid for by fans voluntarily, not through confiscatory taxation. This is recognizing, of course, that the construction of many sports facilities are in deed paid for with taxes.

Mr. Sanders can't discern differences; or he thinks that we cannot.

What other nonsense comparisons can we make?

Like, if we are a nation that can send a man to the moon then where’s my flying car?

If we’re a nation that can come up with 100 different barbecue sauces then why can’t we figure out a way to make lines shorter at Disney World?

It's the scarcity of the skill. Many teachers deserve more, but it is my opinion that few are exceptional. Most are good, some not so much, very few are exceptionally good.

Before you flame, not the IMO

On Long Island, New York, teachers get high salaries, great benefits, and large pensions.

And there are way too many “teachers” that indoctrinate rather than teach.

Taxpayers can’t afford teacher’s salaries, pensions, and health bennies.

Teachers have priced themselves out of the market. And taxpayers and states cannot print money.
