Speaking from the Department of Justice Wednesday morning, Special Counsel Robert Mueller said he is retiring and returning to private life. The Special Counsel's office on this case is officially closed and up until this point, Mueller has been a DOJ employee.
"I'm speaking out today because our investigation is complete," Mueller said. "We are formally closing the Special Counsel's office and I am resigning from the Department of Justice to return private life."
For weeks the Special Counsel's 400-page report on the investigation into the 2016 election has been questioned, with Democrats and Republicans calling on Mueller to testify about his findings. Today he said the report speaks for itself and said he has no other statements to make about the investigation.
"I hope and expect this to be the only time that I will speak to you in this manner. I am making that decision myself," Mueller said. "I do not believe it is appropriate for me to speak further about the investigation."
"The report is my testimony...Our written work speaks for itself," he continued. "Any testimony would not go beyond our report...We chose those words carefully."
The Mueller report shows no Americans colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 election, but today Mueller emphasized Russia's attacks and stressed a need to be vigilant.
"I will close by reiterating the central allegation of our indictments, that there were multiple, systematic efforts to interfere in our election. And that allegation deserves the attention of every American,” Mueller said.
Nay, take his deposition so that it can be released to the public (his dep can be part of one of the many legal battles going on). Remember, grand jury testimony can't be divulged.
But, he did comment further. Like a punk throwing in a ‘last word’ to stir things up and then walks away.
Would have liked him under oath explaining that he reached his conclusion before before the 2018 mid terms but held the answer.
All he did was confirm the AG’s caution that the justice system was being used for political purposes and it has to stop. We now have additional confirmation that Mueller and his team and recent DOJ/FBI are scum misusing and ruining our justice system.
Trump should not waste his time pussyfooting and responding to this nonsense. It’s game over and time to release the declassified documents that we’ve been promised for so long.
Do Mueller has nothing, admits it and throws some mud. Bottom line, after two years and unlimited budget he could not come up with any evidence against Trump, it’s OVER except some continued delusion thinking from the media and the dems and more hand wringing.

Mueller himself was implicit in interfering in the election by continuing his witch hunt after he knew Trump was free from any collusion or interference
By resigning he cannot any longer be investigated by the other guy whose report is to come out soon; Horowitz because he is now a private citizen
Mueller is known to be involved in handing over uranium to Russia, some of which was sold to Iran
He should be indicted
Mueller used the occasion to smear a man who he would not say should be charged. Even today he could have said that Trump should be charged, but he did not. He just trafficked in more innuendo.
Which was the purpose of this farce today...
Mueller is a coward. He was no doubt goaded into this statement by the Dems, which along with his announced retirement insulated him from having to testify and be questioned by Republicans.
This was a damned setup.
Mueller said everybody should be concerned about attempts (collusion) to effect the election. He didn’t say it was Trump’s.
