The Lessons of the Mueller Probe
National Review ^ | 6/12/2019 | ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

Posted on 06/14/2019 4:50:19 PM PDT by bitt

Our government must make transparent, good-faith efforts to police itself, or risk losing legitimacy in the public’s eyes.

Editor’s Note: The following is the written testimony submitted by Mr. McCarthy in connection with a hearing earlier today before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on the Mueller Report (specifically, the first volume of the report, which addresses Russia’s interference in the 2016 campaign, as to which Special Counsel Mueller found no conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin). The hearing was broadcast on C-SPAN, here.

Chairman Schiff, Ranking Member Nunes, members of the Committee, thank you for inviting me to this morning’s hearing.

I served as a federal prosecutor for nearly 20 years, almost all at the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, from which I retired in 2003 as the chief assistant U.S. attorney in charge of the Southern District’s satellite office in White Plains. I’ve also done a short stint working on an independent-counsel probe, and for several months in 2004, I was a consultant to the deputy secretary of defense while the Pentagon was grappling with various legal issues after the onset of post-9/11 military operations. During my years as a prosecutor, I was honored to receive the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award in 1988 and the Attorney General’s Exceptional Service Award in 1996 for my work on international-organized-crime and international-terrorism cases.

Since leaving government service, I have been a writer and commentator. I am appearing this morning in my personal capacity as a former government official who cares deeply about our national security and the rule of law.

They lost legitimacy in the eyes of this voter when they ignored the Constitution on Usurpation Day.

I firmly agree with you. I as a veteran have always had faith in our government. The events of the last three years has made me question where this country is headed. I do not think the next few years will be peaceful.

Way too late. It’s delusional to believe that this can be walked back.

It’s done. Toothpaste back in the tube.

“or risk losing legitimacy in the public’s eyes.”

I’m going to give McCarthy the benefit of the doubt and assume he is not delusional. Therefore, he is “whistling past the graveyard” (i.e., he knows that legitimacy went down the tubes and isn’t coming back, but thinks we’re better off pretending).

I'm tired of hearing this shit.

I think I keep pretty well informed. So how exactly did Russia "interfere" in the 2016 campaign?

"Interference" suggests there was some kind of outcome as a result of "interference"...

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME/AFFECT OF RUSSIA'S INTERFERENCE?

Most people seem to prefer to pretend that Obama was legitimate, both parties did not collude to violate the Constitution and Obama did not turn every agency of the federal government against the citizens.

I bet Adam Schiffless was ecstatically happy with Andrew McCarthy’s monologue. He discretely decimated the Mueller Report and it’s justification... also branded the ‘rats as partisan hacks. I am sure even Eric Swelledhead stood up and cheered! :^/

"I served as a federal prosecutor for nearly 20 years, almost all at the Office of the United States Attorney." Thank you for your service. Your excellence is not enough to rescue National Review. Nice try, though. The M. Report was a big joke from start to finish. And some people in the media think it is not finished yet.

___________

Their legitimacy is long gone..... and the public's eyes have been pretty much closed.

Mr. McCarthy was speaking to the Congressional House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He had to be temperate and tell them “Change your ways or else...” It wouldn’t have done much good to call them out for what they really are.

But, rest assured, McCarthy knows the hour is late, much damage has been done by these people, and reversing it is a Herculean task.

In the House Intel Committee hearing LINK that McCarthy was writing about, the female FBI official claimed that the justification for the FISA warrants was not just the "dossier." Of course she didn't say what else they had. Why couldn't she tell us? I'll bet it had something to do with "sources and methods." CIA? NSA? I thought the FISA court had "safeguards" against using them against US citizens. UK and Australian spies? Oh yeah, Downer was a big Clinton donor.

I've since discovered that the DNC hack supposedly by Russians was never investigated. The DNC wouldn't allow it. Instead the FBI used a redacted report by a private company the DNC hired (Crowdstrike?)...

The Truth is Andy McCarthy is full of shit. He never investigated either. He, the FBI, the Mueller team and the rest of Obama's sock puppets are lying through their teeth about everything Russian.

The real truth is THE RUSSIANS NEVER INTERFERED WITH THE ELECTION OR HACKED THE DNC SERVER...

IT HAS ALL BEEN A LIE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!
