Trump: Iran 'very wise' not to shoot down manned plane

President Trump said Saturday Iran was “very wise” not to shoot down a manned plane when it decided to down an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone.

“There was a plane with 38 people yesterday, did you see that? I think that's a big story. They had it in their sights and they didn't shoot it down. I think they were very wise not to do that. And we appreciate that they didn't do that. I think that was a very wise decision,” Trump told reporters Saturday.

The Associated Press reported Friday that an Iranian Revolutionary Guard general said a manned U.S. spy plane was near the surveillance drone it shot down but that Tehran chose not to target it.

The shooting down of the drone this week inched the U.S. and Iran closer to war. Trump had authorized retaliatory military strikes but pulled back after learning that as many as 150 Iranians could be killed.

“Anything is a lot when they shoot down an unmanned” vehicle, Trump told reporters Saturday about the possible casualties from the aborted strike.

Tensions have risen between the U.S. and Iran in recent weeks after Washington accused Tehran of bombing..

It’s apparent to me the Neocons/Pentagon, when asked by Trump to prepare a response, actually started moving forces way beyond what POTUS envisioned.

They were ready to strike within minutes of receiving the OK.

In the ‘big meeting’, Trump[ asked them what the plan was. He didn’t like it and told them: NO! You’re not going to start a war over a friggin’ drone!

After the meeting they ran to the press, because they are TRAITORS to the American people. They intend to make Trump look weak to undermine him politically, and hope that encourages Iran to escalate further.

Just so the War Pigs can have another war.

I agree. I think this was all about getting Trump in a shooting war. Trump’s seeming quick change of plans looks like he smelled a setup.

IMO, I would not put it past that Kerry, Obama, the deep state and others are working to get Trump to break his promise of not starting a war in the middle east. The government hates Trump with a white hot passion. The Trump’s people mostly love him with the same intensity. He may not be perfect but he is a once in a generation president that actually cares for the country and it’s people.

I sit here scratching my head, trying to understand why even so many FREEPERS find it perfectly acceptable for draft-dodging globalists to piss away trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives in endless military campaigns that only serve to enrich people like the Clintons and that family of retarded baboons who were stuffed down the toilet for good (hopefully) when Yeb! was defeated in 2016.

A pinpoint retaliation against 3 SAM sites is not an “endless military campaign”.

We do not need a 4th front.

Let the house of Saud and Israel Fight their own wars. Heck, give Israel some of our neat toys and say good luck.

There is no strategic reason for war with Iran when we haven’t won the three we are in now (Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria).

Their loyalty is not to the US, or Trump, or anything but themselves.

The real question is what does war with Iran achieve for their interests?

1. How many times have I heard that nonsense before over my lifetime?

2. If you think that would have been the end of all this, you're 'effing delusional. These nitwits clamoring for military action over there have been uniformly calling for the U.S. to topple the Iranian government for years.

Attacking SAM sites in Iran to enforce "international sovereignty" over a trade lane that is used almost exclusively by non-U.S. interests is hardly a case of Making America Great Again.

As we should be but I believe these strikes will be on the President's terms.

Please drop the hyperbole and comment like the one I made would be unnecessary.

The real question is what does war with Iran achieve for their interests?

That's an easy one. Just do some research and find out which Beltway think tanks are affiliated with the political leaders and lobbyists who have been clamoring for U.S. military action, and find out where those think tanks get their funding. There are literally billions of dollars in foreign money pouring into the U.S. this way from foreign interests who use their trade surplus dollars to buy access to our government.

When the Saudi royal family donated a million dollars to the John McCain Leadership Institute at Arizona State University, does anyone here really think they did that because the Arizona desert reminds them of the stench of camel crap?

but it could result in one and that is where the call has to be made. IF this escalates was it worth the trillions and lost lives.

It is escalation. Any escalation can be dangerous.

Decapitating Iran’s military and destroying their nuclear processing plants would take 3 days max. Or in few years we will have DPRK no. 2 (on steroids). The choice is ours to make.

The reason “we haven’t won the three we are in now (Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria)” is BECAUSE of Iran !!!!

Iran with nukes will be like the DPRK but 50% more nuttier. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. It will be “fun” in kind of a sick amusement park freak show way.
