Pretty much a slap at everyone who did what the terms of the loan said. Pay it back.

Rather than paying the debt, why not just force the colleges to give out the education? Isn’t that the plan for doctors and nurses with socialized medicine? It may not be advertised that way but that is how it ends up.

Sure would pi** o** families and students who worked double time for their kid's tuition.

Not fair and creates another class.

Let’s just assume this happens and becomes law.

Then what?

What happens to kids currently enrolling in College? They get free tuition? Will the government get out of the loan business forcing schools to lower tuition?

This is just a patch without a long term plan for sustainability. It’s pie in the sky thinking.

What a slap in the face that would be to those that paid it off themself, often via terrible sacrifice.

Hey, why don't we 'forgive' the debt of everyone who owns a pickup truck...AND pay all the 'stay at home Moms' a nice big fat salary. We can buy votes too...

Let’s just get rid of money
And the market system
And supply
And demand

Let’s just go full Communist so everyone just gets all the stuff they want and no one has to work for anything.

It will be awesome!!!!

And the people who paid off their debt should get it back, right Bernie? I mean, why stop at what is currently outstanding? And what about all those who worked or just were fortunate enough to not need to borrow? We should reimburse them as well, right Bernie? And all those scholarships giver out. Lets reimburse the schools. If we are going to do this, lets do it right.</sarc>

Are they going to reimburse all those who have made payments on their student debt or paid off their loans?

If not, this will create lots more Republicans and conservatives. The old saying is “A Conservative is a Liberal who was mugged.” Maybe that needs updating to “A Conservative is a Liberal who got stiffed on his student loan.”

Well. Bernie thinks he needs to buck up the student vote that he had in his pocket in 2016.

Young people should realize that Bernie has as much chance as becoming President as Santa Claus.

Borrow like you will be expected to pay it back in full, with interest.

They should “forgive” all the Deplorables for voting for Trump by sending every single one of them a half million. That should buy lots of Democrat votes.

There are in excess of 100 Universities sitting on nearly $500,000,000,000.00 in EHDOWMENTS. Endowments help by all Universities likely approach $1 Trillion dollars.

ANY program to address TUITION debt MUST start with these “Billionaire” institutions who grow richer by the day.

SLAM DUNK for Republicans and Trump. Address crushing student debt and target the LEFTISTS who are responsible for it.

I paid my student loan debt off. Now I have to pay for everyone else so that they don’t have to. I want a refund.

Wow, not only is the entire concept stupid beyond belief, but the closing sentence of the CNBC Article beggars belief"
"Recent research has found forgiving student loan debt would raise Gross Domestic Product, add more than one million jobs and increase small business formation and homeownership rates."
Wow, is there anything it can't do? Can it stop Climate Change?
