DOJ says citizenship question being dropped from 2020 Census: NY attorney general's office

The New York attorney general’s office said Tuesday the Justice Department has decided to print the 2020 Census without the citizenship question sought by the Trump administration.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled last week that the question couldn't be added for now. President Trump had tweeted that he had asked lawyers if the count can be delayed until the court can reevaluate the matter.

But experts responded that any delay could gum up the U.S. Census Bureau's finely calibrated timetable for the 10-year count.

Monday was the deadline to start printing the 600 million documents that will be mailed to 130 million households for next April's census count.

Really, if residents not citizens count for congressional redistricting purposes, and if the Census can’t share the information with ICE, then what really have we lost?

Just send the census questions to everybody in the world. They are all coming here anyway.

Because we are so horrible.

So, the Census is fundamentally flawed, and thus invalid on its face.

Skip the whole thing.

Sounds like taxation without representation. We citizens are taxed to pay for welfare freebies to people who pay no taxes.
I though tax issues were the new biggest thing since Obamacare.

This is wrong on every level. Of course that question should be on census. There’s no reason for it not to be other than political pandering by judges which appears to be the norm when it comes to John Roberts.

Some guy pulling Roberts’s strings is. No reason at all to hold that bogus opinion of his until the week before the printing deadline.
