Liberals are clinically insane. Conservatives, traditionally, are simply cowards. Cowards because for the past 60 years we've ceded public education, entertainment, contemporary corporate religion, and virtually all national level politics, to the crazies.
Can’t really disagree with any of that. Though the fact that those nations who have emerged at the end of their attempts at Marxism have chosen another way is encouraging, especially given that they had no real history of liberty. I hope that, since the USA “does” have such a history, that our period of insanity will be shortened thereby.
