The Rev. Jesse Jackson sent a personal appeal to President Trump last Friday, asking him to pardon the imprisoned former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich.
Jackson, the civil rights leader whose nonprofit Rainbow PUSH Coalition is based in Chicago, argued that Blagojevichs 14-year sentence is unfair and unnecessary.
Rod Blagojevich was a governor that cared for the people in the state of Illinois, Jackson said in a letter that was co-signed by former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., his son. We stand with his family as they seek a full pardon for a father and husband that has served most of a sentence that was far longer than the offense deserved.

Because they couldn't (or wouldn't) name the buyer. In order to have a transaction you need a buyer and a seller. And, politicians make these kinds of backroom trades all the time. If it's illegal why are the jails not packed to the rafters with pols? The whole thing was Obama getting rid of Illinois political rivals. The reason Jackson wants Blago pardoned is that his son also got taken out by Obama.
Why didn't you con Obama into that little transaction?
[[Everyone in Chicago knows Jesse jackass jr was sent to a mental hospital after doing bathsalt type drugs shouting “I am Spartacus”]]
Hmmm- Me thinks corey booker will have something to say about that lol
Positive and negative....depending on your POV. Much of it negates all the Dem accusations.
Blago’s sentence runs to spring of 2024. Timing is everything for Trump....so there’s some schedule existing where a ‘group’ of folks needing a pardon will likely occur. It either has to occur prior to the primary season, or after election (my humble opinion).
Well he sure gave Martha her own version of Apprentice!
Jackson, Jr was an embarrassing screwup, using campaign funds to go on a shopping spree. He'd been given a Congressional seat that was a lock for the next 30 years, and had to give it up. He wasn't even bright enough to let others buy his bribes...
Obama had to throw Jr to the wolves, or start answering questions about a host of Chicago actions.
I grew up there. Lesson ONE in Chicago, is never trust an honest man. A fellow crook can be trusted to go blind when he sees someone elses's sin. And Jr knows that, as long as he took one for the team, he'd be covered.
... We've mentioned it before (and in light of the political stances by the Machine that pretty much railroaded Blago into fifteen years), any deal for a pardon or commutation ought to include an extensive prison exit interview with Blago naming names of everyone he did business with, starting with his father-in-law and working through mayor's office to the state house. And seeing these quotes from his former "friends" ought to make that decision a simple one.
