[The Brits I talk to online have been taught that they owe America no favors, that we did nothing to help them in WWII until they already had Germany whipped. My English lineage goes back a loooooog way, but I’ve personally had enough of their snooty attitude.]

Their attitude is that their wars are our wars, but our wars aren’t their wars, unless the likely casualty numbers are nominal, as they have been in Afghanistan and Iraq. Between WWI and WWII we lost 400K dead fighting Britain’s enemies in Europe. That we get maligned is a sign that they think of us as vassals - cannon fodder to be fed into the meat grinder on command.

The Brits are past-masters at Obama’s strategy of “Leading from Behind”. Who can blame them? They were bled dry in 2 world wars and fought alone from May 1940 until the North Africa landings in 1942. And back then they could call on troops from Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, west Africa... I don’t think very many of those (now) commonwealth countries would pickup the courtesy phone today.
